Sunday Recap
Arsenal 0-2 West Ham United
Goalkeeper Petr Cech's Arsenal career got off to almost the worst start imaginable, as he was culpable for both midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate's and forward Mauro Zarate's goals in a disastrous day for the Gunners.
There was a slow, cagey start to the game from both sides, with the first real attempt of note coming from Aaron Ramsey after half an hour, when his half-volley deflected onto the crossbar from left-back Aaron Cresswell.
The visitors broke the deadlock shortly before half-time, as Kouyate beat Cech to meet new signing Dimitri Payet's dangerous free-kick and head into an open goal.

Things went from bad to worse for the 'keeper after 57 minutes, when Zarate pounced on some loose play from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and beat Cech at his near post.
The Daily Telegraph's Mark Ogden believes the 33-year-old will recover from the gaffes but adds that it will take time to adapt to his new surroundings:
Social media was typically set ablaze by the mistakes, with Bleacher Report UK handily summarising the reaction:
Theo Walcott and Alexis Sanchez were both thrown into the attack, as Arsenal desperately tried to find their way back into the match, but the Hammers held on for a deserved win.
Per BBC Sport, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger said:
"We were not convincing offensively or defensively. I knew it it could be a tricky game, if you can't win the game, make sure you don't lose it. The players were maybe too nervous and put too much pressure on themselves.
"

With a tricky trip to Crystal Palace in Week 2 and then a visit from Liverpool in Week 3, the Gunners need to show a response if they are to prove they can be title contenders this season.
The match also showed the need for more recruitment in the transfer market, with Arsenal still needing to sign a top-class centre-forward to feature alongside Olivier Giroud.
Newcastle United 2-2 Southampton
A debut goal for Georginio Wijnaldum almost gave the Magpies a dream start to their Premier League season, but a late goal from Shane Long ensured both sides shared the spoils.
A draw was a fair result between the two sides, as each pulled ahead before being dragged back.
The Saints took the lead through forward Graziano Pelle on midway through the first half, the Italian rising virtually unchallenged to head home Cedric Soares' lovely delivery.

The Toon Army were level shortly before the break, however, with striker Papiss Cisse scoring after a slice of good fortune for Newcastle.
Left-back Massadio Haidara's cross deflected off winger Sadio Mane and over goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg for the Senegalese striker to guide the ball in with his chest from close range.
Newcastle were in front just three minutes after the restart through Wijnaldum, who headed in a rare piece of incisive play from Gabriel Obertan on the right-wing. The Dutchman was clearly ecstatic:
The Magpies controlled the game for large periods after taking the lead, but their failure to kill the game off was punished by substitute Long as he completed the heading masterclass with one of his own, this time from midfielder Dusan Tadic's delivery.
Both sides pushed for a winner late on, but neither could find a way through despite some slack defending.
The Chronicle's Mark Douglas provided a rundown of how the Magpies' debutants faired:
With trips to Swansea City and Manchester United in their next two fixtures, a win was crucial for McClaren's side. Defender Chancel Mbemba's and Wijnaldum's impressive debuts are cause for optimism, but the team will need to improve defensively ahead of two difficult games.
Meanwhile, Ronald Koeman's Saints welcome Everton to the south coast in Week 2. After mixed opening fixtures for both clubs, the match is likely to be an entertaining and closely fought contest.
