Lane Kiffin 'Hits Me Up Every Day,' Says Ole Miss HC Pete Golding About Relationship with LSU HC
On the surface, there appears to be bad blood between Lane Kiffin and his former team, but the new LSU head coach still has a solid relationship with Ole Miss head coach Pete Golding.
Golding, who was promoted to head coach after Kiffin left for LSU, told reporters on Wednesday that Kiffin "hits me up every day." Golding added, however, that he isn't a fan of Kiffin's latest comments about his former team.
"Obviously there's a Lane side for us that we're buddies and are friends, and then there's professional side that I have to get on his ass about a little bit sometimes," Golding said. "Every time he gets in front of a camera, they're bringing up Ole Miss.

"The breakup wasn't perfect. … Some of those last comments that he made, I think anybody that's been to Oxford knows that's not where we're at right now. I've lived all over the southeast, and we all got our own issues, but I think the biggest thing is make sure people come to Oxford and see for themselves."
Earlier this month, while speaking to Chris Smith of Vanity Fair, Kiffin alluded to racial dynamics being a factor when recruiting at Ole Miss, whereas Baton Rouge "feels like there's no segregation."
Ole Miss and SEC officials reportedly are discussing a "potential reprimand" for Kiffin after his comments, though he recently defended what he said.
"People don't read the actual words I used in the article," he told Matt Hayes of USA Today. "I said, 'A parent said.' That's not me saying it as my opinion."
Even if Kiffin and Golding are on good terms, Sept. 19 is surely going to be one of the most interesting days of the college football season when LSU travels to Ole Miss for the first time since Kiffin's departure.
