Mayweather and Pacquiao were announced to face each other on Sept. 19 at The Sphere in Las Vegas in a rematch of their 2015 bout. However, when Mayweather described the fight as an exhibition instead of a professional match, Pacquiao told Inside the Ring, "That's not what we signed."
Pacquiao's team announced on Tuesday that Mayweather has 24 hours to clarify the status of their fight before the plug is officially pulled. Pacquiao went on to declare that Mayweather doesn't want to taint his undefeated record.
"We signed a real fight. He's got his event, he's announcing this exhibition, blah, blah, blah," Pacquiao said. "I think he's scared of losing because that's his leverage to go around and have exhibitions. If that record was ruined, what else can he leverage?"
