Israel Abrams Commits to Miami Over FSU, Auburn, More, Scouting Report for 4-Star QB
Miami has landed one of the top quarterback prospects in the class of 2027.
Four-star quarterback Israel Abrams announced his commitment to the Hurricanes Friday on ESPN's Pat McAfee Show.
Abrams was also considering offers from Auburn, Purdue, Florida State and Kentucky.
Abrams is listed as the No. 3 quarterback prospect and No. 44 national prospect in 247Sports composite rankings for the 2027 class.
He is currently listed at 6-foot-4 out of Montini Catholic High School in Arlington Heights, Illinois.
A February scouting report from 247Sports' Andrew Ivins describes Abrams as an "elastic signal-caller that can rip the ball around the yard" who "finds easy exit velocity with a rapid release, but can also throw with touch and anticipation."
The rising high school senior "must keep progressing but should be viewed at this stage as one of the top quarterbacks in the 2027 cycle and a potential high-level distributor for a College Football Playoff hopeful," Ivins concluded.
Abrams led Montini Catholic to a 14-0 record and a Class 4A state title during his junior season, completing 68.5 percent of his passes for 4,072 yards with 40 touchdowns and six interceptions. He also recorded 83 carries for 224 yards and 10 touchdowns.
He heads into his senior season having led his school to a 24-0 record since taking over as a sophomore starter, per MaxPreps.
Abrams is one of eight players to have committed to Miami for 2027, joining a class led by a host of four-star prospects in wide receivers Nick Lennear and Ah'Mari Stevens, safety Jaylyn Jones and edge rusher Demarcus Deroche, according to 247Sports.
Bringing in a high-profile quarterback recruit to that class marks a potential departure for Hurricanes coach Mario Cristobal, who has recently relied on the transfer portal to fill the position.
That included bringing in Washington State transfer Cam Ward in 2024 and Georgia transfer Carson Beck in 2025, followed by Duke transfer Darian Mensah this offseason.
Cristobal could now be looking to develop a future starting quarterback to take over after Mensah, who will arrive in Coral Gables with two years of college eligibility remaining.
