AEW Dynamite Results, Winners, Live Grades, Reaction, Highlights From April 1

Chris MuellerApr 1, 2026

Welcome to Bleacher Report's live coverage of AEW Dynamite on April 1.

We're just a little over a week away from Dynasty on April 12, so it's all hands on deck to get the next pay-per-view hyped up.

Here's a look at what All Elite Wrestling advertised for Wednesday's show:

  • Kenny Omega and MJF sign their Dynasty contract
  • Pac vs. Will Ospreay
  • Jack Perry, Brody King and Kenny Omega vs. The Demand
  • The Brawling Birds and Mina Shirakawa vs. Triangle of Madness
  • Let's take a look at what happened on this week's Dynamite.

Chris Jericho is Back and a Contract is Signed

    1 of 6

The show opened with Tony Schiavone in the ring to oversee the contract signing. There was some pyro and music before Chris Jericho's entrance song started to play. The crowd popped when he appeared on the stage to reveal it was really him and not an April Fool's prank.

He soaked in the applause for a bit once his music stopped playing. He said "I'm home" and that was the end of the segment. No long promo, and no new feud right away.

Backstage, Will Ospreay was shown assaulting Jon Moxley until officials broke it up. We then went back to the arena for the contract signing with MJF and Kenny Omega.

Both men signed the contract before speaking. MJF started to talk, but Omega told him to shut up. He gave a speech about why he needs to be the one to take the title from MJF.

MJF revealed that Omega got a bad diagnosis from his doctor about his diverticulitis to get in his head. He tried to get Omega to hit him, but Mike Bailey showed up and talked him down. This led to Speedball and MJF agreeing to a singles match.

This segment was simple, but it worked. Both men leaned into their strengths, and they did it without needing to turn it into a huge brawl. Jericho's return was also quick and easy, which was the right way to go.

    Grade: B

    Notable Moments and Observations

  • The way they did the pyro and music was confusing because it looked like Schiavone thought it was an accident.
  • Jericho looked well-rested and in shape. It will be interesting to see how active he is in this next run.
  • Kenny Omega, Brody King and Jack Perry vs. The Demand

    2 of 6

Omega got to stay in the ring after his segment because the first match saw him team up with Brody King and Jack Perry to take on Ricochet, Toa Liona and Bishop Kaun in a trios bout.

Ricochet and Omega started for their teams, but Kaun tagged in right away so his leader didn't have to face The Cleaner.

The babyfaces had the upper hand for an extended period during the first half, but once The Demand isolated Perry, they started to gain momentum. Once we returned from a break, it was more of a back-and-forth battle.

This was a fun six-man bout to get the action started after a long stretch at the beginning of the show with no wrestling. All six men looked good in the ring, but King and Omega were definitely the most over with the crowd.

Omega ended up scoring the win for his team by pinning Ricochet after a long and exciting sequence to end the match.

Result: Omega, King and Perry defeated The Demand

    Grade: B+

    Notable Moments and Observations

  • It would be cool to see Perry defend the National Championship more often. The title needs some more action to establish some credibility.
  • Fun fact: Ricochet defeated Omega in 2014 in their only singles match to date.
  • Pac vs. Will Ospreay

    3 of 6

Christian Cage and Adam Copeland were shown looking for FTR backstage with some steel chairs before we went back to the ring for Pac vs. Will Ospreay.

Pac ended up attacking Ospreay on the ramp during his entrance and delivered a brainbuster that seemed to aggravate his neck injury. The announcers questioned if he would be able to continue.

The doctors tried to talk him out of fighting, but Ospreay wanted to get in the ring. Once he was in and the bell rang, Pac ran at him and hit a boot to the face to take control right away.

The Bastard had Ospreay reeling all through the commercial break, but Billy Goat started making a comeback when we returned. Pac eventually regained the edge as the they fought through another break.

While they may have leaned too heavily on Ospreay's selling of his neck, he and Pac put on an entertaining performance that told more of a story than their usual high-flying antics. The match felt like more of a buildup than a non-stop spot-fest.

When it looked like Pac might make him pass out in the Brutalizer, Ospreay rolled him over into a pin for the win. The Death Riders attacked Ospreay, but Moxley stopped them from stomping on his neck while wrapped in a chair.

    Result: Ospreay defeated Pac

    Grade: A-

    Notable Moments and Observations

  • Willow gave a quick interview and said she would be defending her title on Collision this week.
  • Cage and Cope took out Rocky Romero and Trent Beretta backstage.
  • AEW really likes leaning into past and existing injuries. It can be a bit much sometimes.

The Brawling Birds and Mina Shirakawa vs. Triangle of Madness

    4 of 6

Thekla, Skye Blue and Julia Hart were in trios action against Mina Shirakawa, Jamie Hayter and Alex Windsor.

They wasted no time picking up the pace and making this a hard-hitting fight. It was pretty even until Shirakawa was targeted by all three opponents.

While the majority of the match was good, there were isolated moments that looked a little sloppy, but it wasn't enough to ruin the whole bout.

Thekla tried to use some brass knucks, but it wasn't enough to stop Hayter from hitting Hart with her finisher for the win.

Result: Brawling Birds and Shirakawa defeated Triangle of Madness

    Grade: B

    Notable Moments and Observations

  • Hayter and Windsor have such a fun dynamic.
  • Thekla making fun of Shirakawa was so funny. She is almost too enjoyable to be a heel.
  • The suplex with all six women did not work out the way they wanted it to.
  • MJF vs. Mike Bailey

    5 of 6

This week's main event was the match booked during the opening segment between Speedbal and MJF. The champion was out first wearing red, white and blue gear to get some hear from the Canadian crowd.

Bailey took the fight to MJF right away, but the champion used the referee as a distraction so he could rake Speedballs eyes and send him out of the ring.

Omega watched from the announce table as MJF mocked him and threw Bailey into the steel steps.

They had the better part of half an hour to work, so they had plenty of time to make this an enjoyable match that didn't rush from spot to spot. When they did speed up, it felt like it mattered more.

Speedball put up a valiant effort, but MJF hit two piledrivers in a row to get the pin and the win.

    Result: MJF defeated Bailey

    Grade: B+

    Notable Moments and Observations

  • MJF's gear had two eagles on it. That has to be some kind of animal cruelty.
  • Bailey was wearing special gear since they were in his home country.
  • The spot when Bailey missed the double knee on the apron looked painful.
  • The Final Word

    6 of 6

Wednesday's episode of Dynamite didn't have as many matches as most weeks, but it felt like a more focused show than usual.

Every feud that was addressed was done so in a way that advanced the story, and each match we got felt important.

Pac and Ospreay had the best performance of the night, but MJF and Bailey weren't far behind.

Jericho's return was quick and simple, so we still don't know what his intentions are, but we shouldn't have to wait long to find out.

    Grade: B+
