New Mohamed Salah Rumors on Potential Landing Spots for Liverpool Star Ahead of Exit
Superstar winger Mohamed Salah could potentially be U.S.-bound when his Liverpool contract expires at the conclusion of the 2025-26 English Premier League season, but a couple of high-profile MLS teams are reportedly not believed to be courting him currently.
According to Andy Jones of The Athletic, San Diego FC are "not in the picture to sign" Salah due to the fact that a "big-money designated player does not fit their sporting philosophy."
The Chicago Fire are reportedly "not focused" on Salah for the upcoming summer transfer window either, but Jones noted that their stance could change based on the fact that they have gone after big-name players in the past.

A source informed Jones that they would "not rule out" New York City FC pursuing Salah, especially with the club set to open a new stadium next year.
Outside of the MLS, Jones named the Saudi Pro League as a possible landing spot for Salah, noting that Al Ittihad, Al Hilal and Al Qadsiah are teams that could be in the market for him.
Jones expressed doubt over Salah joining a European power such as Barcelona, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain or Juventus for myriad reasons, including financials and the Egyptian star's declining skills.
The 33-year-old Salah has long been viewed as one of the best all-around players in the world, earning countless accolades throughout his career, including Premier League Player of the Season in 2018 and 2025.
After stints at several clubs, including Basel, Chelsea, Fiorentina and Roma, Salah found a home at Liverpool in 2017.
In 435 matches across all competitions for the Reds, Salah has scored 255 goals. He has reached the 30-goal mark in a season with Liverpool five times, including a career-high 44 in his first campaign and 34 last season.
With Salah leading the way, Liverpool won the Premier League title last season, but both he and the club have struggled far more this season.
Salah has only 10 goals across all competitions, and Liverpool are a disappointing fifth in the Premier League table through 31 matches.
He isn't at all far removed from a top-notch season in terms of production, though, and there is reason to believe that Salah could resurrect his career if he lands with the right team next season.
