LeBron Admits He Surprises Himself with Some of His Highlight Plays During Historic 23rd NBA Season
Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James says he sometimes gets surprised by the moves he's still able to pull off during his historic 23rd NBA season.
When a reporter said around the 3:11 mark of Tuesday media availability that it's not surprising what James has been doing during his age-41 campaign, James said, "It kind of is, at times."
"Some plays I still do at this point in my career where, definitely surprise me for sure," James said.
The interview came after multiple notable plays from James over the last few days, including diving onto the court for a loose ball late in regulation of the Lakers' Saturday overtime victory against the Denver Nuggets.
James added to his highlight reel Monday with a dunk over the Houston Rockets' Jabari Smith Jr.
James is heading into the Lakers' Wednesday night road rematch against the Rockets having averaged 21.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, 6.9 assists and 1.1 steals through 47 games this season.
The Lakers star is currently set to become a free agent after the 2025-26 season, and he has previously said his decision whether to return for a 24th year in the NBA would hinge on his ability to "stay in love with the process."
His strong play down the stretch of the season could be a positive indication that the NBA's all-time leading scorer will consider coming back for another season in 2025-26.
First, he'll look to help his team clinch a high playoff seed. Beating the Rockets again this week could assist the Lakers in extending their 1.5-game lead over Houston for the No. 3 seed in the West.
