Mayweather's fight against Tyson will also be an exhibition, but his rematch against Pacquiao will be his first professionally sanctioned fight since 2017. Since retiring, he fought in exhibition matches against the likes of Logan Paul and John Gotti III.
"I still have what it takes to set more records in the sport of boxing," Mayweather said of his return to professional competition, per ESPN's Andreas Hale. "From my upcoming Mike Tyson event to my next professional fight afterwards -- no one will generate a bigger gate, have a larger global broadcast audience and generate more money with each event -- [than] my events. And I plan to keep doing it with my global media partner, CSI Sports/FIGHT SPORTS."
Nicknamed "Iron Mike," Zambidis is an 18-time world champion kickboxer. He's fought in a whopping 181 kickboxing fights, compiling a record of 157-24 with 87 career wins by knockout. His last pro kickboxing fight was in 2015, and he fought in one pro boxing fight in 2019.
Mayweather's return to professional competition is sure to excite boxing fans, and there will be ample opportunities to see him showcase his skills with his three scheduled fights this year against Tyson, Zambidis and Pacquiao.
