Lindsey Vonn Returns Home After Crash at Olympics, Provides Update on Leg Injury Rehab in Photos
United States skier Lindsey Vonn is back home after suffering a devastating injury at the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympics last month.
Vonn shared a message on Instagram, updating fans on her leg injury rehab and adding some photos.
"I'm focused now on therapy and getting healthy. It's going to be a hard and painful journey but I am putting all of my energy into it, like I always do," she wrote. "I'm going to take some time for myself. I'll give you updates when I can but right now my focus is on taking care of myself."
The 41-year-old Vonn, who came into this year's Winter Olympics having recently suffered a torn ACL, suffered a "complex tibia fracture that is currently stable but will require multiple surgeries to fix properly" during the women's downhill competition.
The veteran skier noted that the torn ACL did not cause the crash that led to the injuries.
Although what could be her last Olympics ended with a brutal injury, she said she has "no regrets" about competing.
"I have no regrets. Standing in the starting gate yesterday was an incredible feeling that I will never forget," she wrote on Instagram days after the crash. "Knowing I stood there having a chance to win was a victory in and of itself. I also knew that racing was a risk. It always was and always will be an incredibly dangerous sport."
In a social media post last week, Vonn explained the "mental battle" she's dealing with as she tries to recover.
"My physical battle began the second I got hurt but the mental battle started today," Vonn wrote. "It hit me like a ton of bricks. It's a battle I'm used to because I've done it so many times. I have always learned from every injury. Each one has made me a better and stronger person in different ways… but the battle of the mind can be dark and hard and unrelenting."
What's next for Vonn is unclear, and she has a long road to recovery ahead, but she said she "will find a way back to the top of the mountain of life."
