Lane Kiffin Appears to Label LSU as CFB's 'Most Hated Team' After His Ole Miss Exit
Lane Kiffin appears to be embracing the hate.
LSU's head coach responded to a social-media prompt asking who the most hated team in college football is with an emoji of his team's mascot:
Generally in college football, teams that enjoy consistent success with large and vocal fanbases to go along with a heavy media presence are going to be "hated" by rival and neutral fans.
Programs such as Ohio State, Alabama, Michigan, Notre Dame and Texas will likely find themselves on such lists almost every year, but Kiffin's presence certainly adds another layer for the 2026 Tigers.
After all, his high-profile exit from Ole Miss before the most recent College Football Playoff and the ensuing storylines generated plenty of attention.
They will also put him and his team firmly under the spotlight during the 2026 campaign.
LSU has the historical success, passionate fanbase and spot in the SEC that would lead to plenty of fans cheering against it even without a head coach who never backs away from attention, maintains quite the social-media presence and just left Ole Miss during the middle of its national championship pursuit.
He also just dominated the transfer-portal cycle with the top-ranked class, per 247Sports, and didn't exactly meet the moment with modesty:
LSU's SEC opener on Sept. 19 is on the road at Ole Miss in what will be appointment viewing across the country.
And, if Kiffin's latest social-media post is to be believed, most of the fans tuning in will be cheering for his old school over his new one.
