Quinn Hughes, Drew Doughty Photo Goes Viral from Fight During USA vs. Canada Olympic Gold-Medal Game
Quinn Hughes and Drew Doughty made sure to distance themselves from the fray during a tense moment in the gold-medal game between the United States and Canada in the 2026 Winter Olympics.
Amid a scuffle along the boards, Hughes and Doughty were comfortably situated outside of the scrum:
Canada has long cast a shadow over Team USA on the ice. Ottawa Senators star Brady Tkachuk didn't mince words about his feelings toward his rival to the north.
"There's hatred there," he told ESPN's Emily Kaplan. "I mean, they've been the top dog. They've been the best for the last bunch of years, and for us, we want to be in that position, be the best. So it's going to be a game where I think a lot of guys could say, this is the biggest game that they've ever played in."
The final lived up to the hype as the two teams were deadlocked after 60 minutes. Matt Boldy gave Team USA an early lead in the first period before Cale Makar scored late in the second.
Jack Hughes wrote his name into American Olympic lore for a long time to come when he netted the winner in overtime.
This was the United States' first gold in men's hockey since the "Miracle on Ice" in 1980. Team USA also completed a sweep as the women beat Canada by an identical 2-1 overtime score for gold.
The Canadians will have revenge squarely on their minds at the 2030 Olympics in the French Alps.
