Devin Booker May Retire from NBA 3-Point Contest After 2027 as Loss to Damian Lillard 'Hurt'
After a tough loss to Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard in the NBA Three-Point Contest this past weekend, Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker sounds like he's putting the competition behind him.
With Phoenix set to host All-Star Weekend in 2027, Booker told reporters that it could be his last attempt at the Three-Point Contest after losing to Lillard 29-27 in this year's final round.
"This one hurt a little bit. I wanted this one bad," Booker said, per Duane Rankin of the Arizona Republic. "Wish I was defending it in Phoenix, but it'll probably be the last time I do it next year if I get the invite. I'm looking forward to it."
Booker won the NBA Three-Point Contest in 2018, but this year he was bested by Lillard, who won the contest for the third time in his career despite recovering from a torn Achilles tendon that has kept him out for the entire 2025-26 season so far.
As the face of the Suns, Booker will be the de facto host of All-Star Weekend next year.
If Booker is invited to compete in the Three-Point Contest in 2027, it's clear that he will be motivated to end his run in the competition on a high note in front of his longtime fans in Phoenix.
