Luka Doncic Reacts to 1-Year Anniversary of Lakers, Mavericks Trade Ahead of Knicks Game
It's been one year since the Dallas Mavericks sent Luka Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers in return for Anthony Davis in one of the most shocking trades in NBA history.
Ahead of the Lakers' matchup against the New York Knicks on Sunday, Dončić said things have worked out.
"It's crazy that it's already been a year," he said on NBC's broadcast. "I'm in a great place. I'm happy where I'm at."

As for whether he remembers the reaction to the trade, he said he wasn't near his phone at the time.
The Mavs decision to trade the face of their franchise left the NBA world in shock, from fans to players. ESPN's Shams Charania, who broke the news of the trade, had to clarify to his followers that he hadn't been hacked.
Nico Harrison, the general manager of the Mavericks at the time, who has since been fired, justified the trade by saying he wanted the strong defense of Davis.
"I believe that defense wins championships," Harrison said. "I believe that getting an All-Defensive center and an All-NBA player with a defensive mindset gives us a better chance. We're built to win now and in the future."
It still may be too early to decide who won the trade, but the Mavericks aren't making a strong case right now. Davis has played just 29 games since arriving in Dallas because of various injuries and is currently sidelined for at least a few more weeks.
The Mavs are sitting in 11th place in the West at 19-30.
Meanwhile in Los Angeles, Dončić is putting up MVP numbers, averaging 33.7 points, 8.8 assist and 7.8 rebounds per game. The Lakers have some work to do, but are at least sitting in playoff position at 29-18.
