Tyson Fury, Arslanbek Makhmudov Boxing Fight Set for Netflix After Star's Return from Retirement
Three weeks after announcing he was ending his retirement, Tyson Fury's return bout is set.
Netflix announced on Wednesday that it will serve as the broadcast home for Fury vs. Arslanbek Makhmudov on April 11.
Fury seemed to indicate in an Instagram post on Jan. 4 that he was stepping back into the ring.
"Been away for a while but im back now, 37 years old and still punching," Fury wrote in a post that also included a video of him training.
The Gypsy King announced his retirement in January 2025, a few weeks after a close loss to Oleksandr Usyk in which he failed to regain the WBA (Super), WBC, WBO, IBO and The Ring heavyweight titles.
That marked at least the fifth time Fury has said he was retiring from competition in his career, so very few people expected this to be the one that stuck.
This was technically the longest of Fury's retirements thus far. He did have a period of nearly three years without competing from November 2015 through June 2018, which included a retirement announcement in October 2016.
Fury immediately backtracked on the announcement, though he did acknowledge at the time going through very intense mental health struggles that left him unfit to compete.
Makhmudov is 21-2 in 23 professional bouts. The 36-year-old Russian most recently defeated David Allen via unanimous decision to win the WBA Inter-Continental heavyweight title on Oct. 11.
Fury started his career unbeaten in 35 professional bouts with a 34-0-1 record prior to suffering back-to-back losses against Usyk in 2024.
