Howell began the day facing Chris Doak, beating the Scot with sheer consistency.
While he only hit two birdies compared with Doak's three, and the Scot also hit an eagle, Howell dropped only one shot. Doak, on the other hand, hit five bogeys, meaning Howell triumphed 2 and 1.
Up next for Howell was Chris Wood, who eased past Julien Quesne by two holes.
Consistency was again the key for the 40-year-old, who hit just a single bogey in the quarter-final. Indeed, as the European Tour's official Twitter feed noted, Howell has been excellent throughout the tournament:
Two birdies and an eagle put the Englishman in front:
Wood had begun brightly with a birdie and an eagle of his own at the third and fourth, but a double bogey at the 14th sealed his fate.
Karlsson, who came out on top in an all-Swedish affair in Round 3, faced local hero Richie Ramsay for a place in the semi-finals.
The Scot firmly had the backing of the home crowd:
Nevertheless, the Swede overcame Ramsay to secure his place in the next round.
Ramsay was two holes up after an eventful first seven that included an eagle, two birdies and a double bogey, but Karlsson soon levelled the scoring.
The pair remained all square until the Swede carded a birdie at the sixteenth and hung onto his lead by the skin of his teeth with a wonderful chip:
Aphibarnrat hit just two birdies in his quarter-final with Michael Hoey, but the Northern Irishman threw away a two-hole lead with bogeys at the 13th, 14th and 16th.
The highlight of the day was Warren's showdown with Tyrrell Hatton.
Two birdies and an eagle put Hatton three holes up inside the first five, but four birdies from Warren and a bogey from Hatton quickly saw the scoreline change, per the European Tour:
Warren continued to lead until the final hole, before a birdie at the 18th for Hatton forced a play-off.
As the pair contested the 19th hole, the Scot produced this moment of magic to win the round:
Here is the bracket for Sunday:
The four are in mouthwatering form at the moment, so Sunday promises to be an unmissable day of golf.
Howell's consistency makes him the most likely candidate to go on and win the tournament, but as Warren's match demonstrated, the score can change rapidly, so don't rule out any of them just yet.
