Latest News on Devin Booker's Timeline to Return to Suns from Ankle Injury
The Phoenix Suns are set to be without their best player for the foreseeable future.
The Suns announced on Sunday that star guard Devin Booker will be re-evaluated in one week after suffering a right ankle sprain in Friday's loss to the Atlanta Hawks.
Booker had scored 31 points in 28 minutes before injuring his ankle late in the third quarter of Friday's road matchup. He was down for several minutes before making his way off the court, and he was seen leaving the locker room on crutches after the Suns had their three-game win streak come to an end in a 110-103 loss.
"Pretty unlucky," Suns head coach Jordan Ott said of the injury after the game. "We'll just have to take a look when we get back to Phoenix."
Booker has played in 41 games for the 27-18 Suns and leads the team with averages of 25.4 points and 6.2 assists. Phoenix has been one of the early surprises of the season, ranking sixth in the West after the team was expected to experience some growing pains under its third different head coach in the past three years.
In addition to being without Booker, the Suns have struggled to get shooting guard Jalen Green to stay healthy. After making his return from a hamstring injury in a win over the Philadelphia 76ers, he played just four minutes against the Hawks before re-aggravating the ailment.
Phoenix will be in action on Sunday night against the Miami Heat (24-22), so multiple players will have to step up as the team begins life without Booker.
