2026 World Cup Final Ticket Listed for $230K on FIFA's Resale Marketplace

Tickets for the 2026 World Cup Final are being listed on FIFA's resale marketplace for as much as $230,000, per James Robson of the Associated Press.

"On FIFA's own resale marketplace, a ticket for the final was being listed for as much as $230,000 this week," Robson wrote. "FIFA does not resell tickets or set prices on the platform, but can cash in for a second time by taking a 30% cut from any sale."

This year's World Cup is taking place in the United States, Canada and Mexico from Thursday, June 11 through Sunday, July 19, when the final will take place in East Rutherford, New Jersey's MetLife Stadium. The World Cup is also increasing from 32 to 48 teams.

There's incredible demand for tickets this year, as FIFA president Gianni Infantino recently noted during the World Economic Forum in Switzerland.

"In 100, almost 100, years of World Cup history, FIFA sold around 50 million tickets in total," Infantino said (h/t Robson). "Now for this World Cup in four weeks (on sale), we have the request for 1,000 years of World Cups at once. This is unique. It's incredible."

Tickets are being priced into four different categories, per the AP. Category 1 is the highest-priced tier in the lower-seated sections, with Category 4 being the lowest-price tier in the upper sections. As of Dec. 15, no tickets in these sections were "listed by FIFA as available."

Naturally, fans aren't (and shouldn't) be happy with the massive prices just to attend matches. However, some $60 tickets are being made available, per ESPN News Services.

"FIFA said Tuesday that $60 tickets will be made available for every game at the tournament in North America, going to the national federations whose teams are playing. Those federations decide how to distribute them to loyal fans who have attended previous games at home and on the road.

"The number of $60 tickets for each game is likely to be in the hundreds, rather than thousands, in what FIFA is now calling a 'Supporter Entry Tier' price category."

Still, if you aren't lucky enough to get those $60 tickets, fans should expect to pay hundreds or thousands to attend tournament matches. The AP provided a thorough match-by-match breakdown of ticket pricing.

The cheapest tickets appear to be $140 in Category 3 for a handful of matches. Those prices are over four figures for other games, such as the World Cup opener (Mexico vs. South Korea) and United States' first game vs. Paraguay.

In the end, people are going to have to pay big money to attend this tournament, but the demand is clearly there for the biggest edition of the World Cup yet.
