Jordan Hill Arrested for Reckless Driving: Latest Details and Reaction
Indiana Pacers forward Jordan Hill was arrested on reckless driving charges in Atlanta, president of basketball operations Larry Bird said in a statement Friday.
"We have been informed Jordan was arrested for allegedly reckless driving in Atlanta, Georgia," Bird said. "It is obvious we don't condone this. We will address this with Jordan. This is a major concern of safety, not just for Jordan, but for others."
Mike Petchenik of WSB provided a dashboard cam view of Hill allegedly driving at a speed in excess of 100 mph:
Hill, 28, signed a one-year, $5 million contract with the Pacers earlier this month. He spent the last three-plus seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, averaging a career-high 12 points and 7.9 rebounds per game in 2014-15. Indiana signed the high-energy forward to run the floor and replace Roy Hibbert, who was traded to the Lakers as part of a roster revamp.
Reckless driving is a misdemeanor in Georgia. If convicted, Hill could face a fine of up to $1,000 and a year in jail.
If the arrest has any effect on his playing status, Lavoy Allen or first-round pick Myles Turner would stand to gain the most in terms of playing time.
