Ole Miss' Trinidad Chambliss 'A Little Frustrated' With NCAA Waiver Process
Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss gave his thoughts on the NCAA's waiver process as he waits to see if he'll be granted a sixth year of eligibility.
"It has been a little frustrating," Chambliss told ESPN's Pete Thamel. "But I can't let that overtake what my mindset is right now and that's to win a football game and beat Miami. So I would say I'm a little frustrated, but I can't let that take over me."
Yahoo Sports' Ross Dellenger reported Monday that Chambliss and the Rebels agreed to a new NIL contract that would keep him with the school in 2026. The deal is contingent on his medical redshirt waiver for a sixth year of eligibility being granted by the NCAA.
Chambliss is requesting a redshirt year for his sophomore campaign at Ferris State, supplying 91 pages of medical documents showing he was dealing with a respiratory issue during the season, per Thamel.
The 23-year-old is now in the midst of an impressive inaugural year with Ole Miss, completing 66.4 percent of his throws for 3,660 yards and 21 touchdowns compared to three interceptions. He's also rushed for 520 yards and eight scores.
Chambliss is coming off a stellar performance in the Rebels' 39-34 win over Georgia in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals, finishing 30-of-46 for 362 yards and two touchdowns without turning the ball over.
Ole Miss is now set to face Miami in a CFP semifinal clash on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
