SGA, Thunder Baffle NBA Fans with Recent Slide Amid Blowout Loss to LaMelo, Hornets
The Oklahoma City Thunder started off the season looking ready to defend their championship, but they've been far from dominant as of late.
After starting the year 24-1, the Thunder have gone 6-6 in their last 12 games. Their worst loss of the season up to this point came on Monday, when they were blown out by the Charlotte Hornets, 124-97.
Reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander struggled by his standards, scoring just 21 points on 7-of-21 from the field. His co-stars didn't give him much help, as Chet Holmgren had 15 and Jalen Williams posted 16.
A loss like Monday's is bad against any team, let alone the Hornets, who are in 12th place in the East. Fans couldn't believe the lopsided result.
A few of the Thunder's losses haven't been too bad, as they've dropped three games against the San Antonio Spurs and one against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Still, a loss to the Phoenix Suns on Sunday, followed by Monday's disaster against the Hornets, isn't a great sign.
OKC fans shouldn't worry too much just yet. The Thunder are still sitting comfortable in first place in the West at 30-7 and should be able to turn things around soon.
