Fighter Speak

Respect is the biggest motivation for Mora, you can pick that up in the first few moments of the interview below with The Ring Digital. Mora empties his heart in this interview and also discusses the business of the sport and some in-ring strategy.

You could group Mora in the same category with the likes of Malignaggi, B.J. Flores, Bernard Hopkins and Andre Ward when it comes to fighters who give amazing interviews. These guys are a pleasure to listen to when they're talking the sweet science.

Mora has great respect for Jacobs, but it's clear to see he has designs on taking the title from the champion and earning some respect he believes he deserves.

Jacobs pulled no punches in his interview with ESPN.com's Brian Campbell. "I need to stop Mora," Jacobs said. There's no secret Mora isn't the type of name that will cause fight fans to take notice. Jacobs knows that. That's why he will likely push for a dramatic victory by way of stoppage.

The Last Time Out

The champion scored a 12th-round TKO over Caleb Truax in his last fight back in April. It was an action-packed scrap that saw Jacobs in control for most of the bout—especially the final three rounds.

Jacobs wore Truax down with pressure and hard counter shots. Truax is nowhere near as skilled as Jacobs, but he is tough. It was the first time in 29 professional fights that Truax had been stopped. That nugget serves as a feather in Jacobs' cap and validates his punching power and finishing instinct.

Mora ran his current win streak to five with a split-decision victory over Abraham Han in February. Han isn't a terrible fighter, but winning a split decision against him won't have many people expecting a victory from the Latin Snake against Jacobs.

What's At Stake

As the secondary WBA champion, a loss for Jacobs would be disastrous. He's trying to inch his way up the ladder in a division where all of the top fighters—besides WBO champion Andy Lee—are under the Top Rank label.

Therefore, there aren't a ton of opportunities for him to advance. If he loses the title to Mora, Jacobs' status as an elite 160-pounder would be all but destroyed. He needs to win convincingly to keep the boxing community believing he is for real.

Mora doesn't have much to lose. No one really expects him to win. If he looks good, he will have secured another payday for himself somewhere down the line. A respectable loss is a win for him in this fight.

Strategy and Prediction

Mora doesn't have much punching power, but he is a skilled boxer who understands angles and distance. He'll have a solid game plan, but he doesn't have the talent to execute.

Jacobs is the faster and more powerful fighter. While he does have some defensive holes in his game, Mora doesn't have the snap on his punches to effectively exploit the champion.

Mora may have some solid rounds early, but by the fourth, Jacobs' pressure and power will begin to wear Mora down. Toughness and pride will allow Mora to go the distance, but Jacobs will win the unanimous decision.
