Cristiano Ronaldo Talks Retirement Timeline as Star Eyes 1,000 Goals and More Trophies
Cristiano Ronaldo doesn't plan on retiring from football until he scores his 1,000th career goal for club and country.
"It's hard to continue playing, but I am motivated," he said at the Globe Soccer Awards on Sunday (h/t BBC Sport). "My passion is high and I want to continue. It doesn't matter where I play, whether in the Middle East or Europe. I always enjoy playing football and I want to keep going. You know what my goal is. I want to win trophies and I want to reach that number [1,000 goals] that you all know. I will reach the number for sure, if no injuries."

Ronaldo, 40, currently sits at 956 career goals and has 13 goals in 14 appearances for Al-Nassr this year. He previously announced that this summer's World Cup will be his last international tournament with Portugal, so it's likely he'll reach the 1,000-goal threshold on the club level.
