"That feels like a really long time ago," Texas A&M outside hitter Emily Hellmuth said of the regular-season matchup before Sunday's rematch. "It's hard to honestly remember, so much has happened since then. I do remember after the fourth set everyone, including all the fans and us, feeling so -- I don't know -- it was a confusing feeling of, we knew that we were about to go to the fifth. I think we left feeling like there was a lot of unfinished business there."
The Aggies were clearly motivated to avoid a similar fate on the sport's biggest stage.
After a close first set, Texas A&M dominated the second set with a double-digit win. Kentucky did its best to fight back after falling behind early in the third, but the Aggies managed to close things out on the third championship point.
Logan Lednicky led the way for Texas A&M with 11 kills and six digs, while Kyndal Stowers added 10 kills and six digs.
Sunday's win completes a magical run for the Aggies that included wins over three different No. 1 seeds.
