Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua Odds, Live Stream and KO, Judges' Scorecards Predictions

Alex BallentineDec 19, 2025

Jake Paul will take on the biggest challenge of his boxing career when he squares off against former heavyweight champion and Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua Friday night on Netflix.

Paul's polarizing foray into boxing has included fights against streamers, an NBA dunk champion, MMA legends, journeymen boxers and a 59-year-old Mike Tyson.

Joshua is a different challenge. He's a legitimate contender with two world title runs and a long history of knockout power in the ring. Unlike Tyson, all of those accomplishments have taken place within the last decade.

Let's dive into this matchup with the particulars before previewing what the in-ring action could look like.

Regardless of how you feel about Jake Paul, there's no denying that this is a big step up for him. For years, he's been criticized for hand-picking opponents that will make him look good.

This is a matchup that just doesn't look good for him on paper.

Anthony Joshua is coming off a shocking fifth-round knockout loss to Daniel Dubois. However, he had built a four-fight win streak that included a second-round knockout of former UFC champion Francis Ngannou before that loss.

Still, Paul is walking the line between confidence and delusion heading into the fight.

"On paper, the cards are stacked against me," Paul told reporters, via Farah Hannoun and Danny Segura of MMA Junkie. "But really in terms of boxing, I'm a better boxer than AJ, which is hilarious to say, but he's got two left feet. He's stiff. If I was his coach, I'd put him in a dance class first before trying to box."

Paul should be recognized for having some skill. He's not a world champion-caliber fighter, however, his wins over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Mike Tyson give him victories over two former world champions. Neither were close to their prime, but it does highlight that he has some boxing chops.

But the vast difference between "some boxing chops" and championship-caliber fighter should be on display Friday night.

Joshua, for his part, seems to understand what's at stake on Friday night. Even a competitive fight would be viewed as a failure for his reputation as one of the world's top heavyweights.

The first level of failure is the loss. There's nothing I can do to reverse that. That's the worst outcome," Joshua told Shakiel Mahjouri of CBS Sports. "The next level of failure is a competitive eight-round fight -- that's a big failure on my part. There are so many different levels of failure within this. It's a serious time for me. There's a lot at stake, and I don't want to lose myself."

As long as Joshua fights with that type of urgency this should be a fairly one-sided affair that doesn't go the complete eight rounds.
