Lindsey Vonn Details Diet for 2026 Winter Olympics, 'Feel Pretty Damn Good'
Lindsey Vonn told reporters at a Wednesday press conference that she feels "pretty damn good" as she attempts to qualify for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy.
"For my age, I feel pretty damn good," the 41-year-old said, per Andrew Dampf of the Associated Press. "I probably feel better now than I did before I tore my first ACL in 2013. So that was quite a long time ago."
Vonn also spoke about a successful diet that helped her feel her best.
"I was able to gain about 12 pounds this summer, which I was thrilled about," Vonn said. "It took a lot of hard work. I was probably the most disciplined I've ever been with my diet and just how I approached the entire summer. I put everything I had into being as physically prepared as possible."
Vonn is a three-time Olympic medalist who won gold in the downhill and bronze in the Super-G in 2010. She also won bronze in the downhill in 2018.
She is also an eight-time World Championship medalist, notably winning a pair of gold medals in 2009 in the downhill and Super-G.
In addition, Vonn has won 82 World Cup races, in addition to finishing second 36 times and third on 20 occasions.
Unfortunately, Vonn has suffered serious injuries and undergone numerous surgeries over her career. She retired in 2019 due to consistent knee issues causing her pain.
However, Vonn is now embarking on a tremendous comeback after undergoing a knee replacement in April 2024.
"Getting back to skiing without pain has been an incredible journey," Vonn said. She also said she wanted to "continue to share my knowledge of the sport with these incredible women."
Per Dampf, Vonn is seeking to qualify in three events (downhill, super-G and the team combined race) at the Olympics, which will take place in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo in Italy from Feb. 6-22.
