St. Frances Wins Historic Overtime Nationals HSFB Championship and $250K Donation
St. Frances (MD) has won the first Overtime Nationals High School Football Championship.
The No. 4-ranked Panthers downed No. 24 Corner Canyon (UT) in blowout fashion, 37-20, in Wednesday's championship game. With the win, St. Frances earned a $250,000 donation to its athletic program.
It was a defensive battle early on, but the Panthers got on the board first with a touchdown catch from Destin Mitchell.

Corner Canyon had a chance to get on the board in the second quarter, but missed a field goal from 32 yards out. St. Frances' Jaylen Burke punched in a touchdown to make it 14-0, and the Panthers found the endzone once more before the end of the first half on a nice throw from quarterback Jae'Oyn Williams.
After scoring 21 points and keep the Chargers off the board in the first half, St. Frances had plenty of breathing room and could rely on one of the best defenses in the country to lead it to victory.
But the Panthers got some extra insurance on a touchdown pass from Williams in the third quarter.
While things were about out of reach by the end of the third, Corner Canyon avoided a shutdown by capitalizing on a special teams mistake from St. Frances.
Just as Corner Canyon showed some signs of life, St. Frances got a nine-point swing from a safety and a touchdown on the punt.
Corner Canyon got on the board once again before the end of the game, but it was far too little, far too late, and St. Frances coasted to a win.
Now, the Panthers have been crowned the first-ever high school national champions, and they'll get a significant donation towards their athletic program.
