Chris Jericho's months-long absence from AEW has led to speculation that he could be on the verge of returning to WWE, and his recent social media activity will only further fuel those rumors.
Jericho posted a TikTok video featuring his original and iconic WWE entrance theme with the caption, "You just had to be there."
The 55-year-old recently admitted that his in-ring future is uncertain, but left the door open on performing in 2026.
"You never know. I'm not done yet. Still figuring out everything and we'll see where I end up. I'm pretty sure you'll see me in 2026 in a wrestling ring somewhere," Jericho said on the WBSM with Tim Weisberg show (h/t Felix Upton of Ringside News).
AEW CEO Tony Khan said during an appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show that he and Jericho are still in touch and "the door is always open for" him to return.
Still, Jericho's post sent fans into a frenzy, with many feeling that he confirmed that he's heading back to WWE. Comments on the TikTok video included "Y2J to WWE confirmed," and, "It's happening. Welcome back, GOAT."
Jericho could be close to ending his legendary career, so fans would certainly welcome the opportunity for him to have one last ride in WWE.
John Cena Responds to His Father's Comments on Gunther
John Cena's father, John Cena Sr., made it clear that he's not happy with his opponent for his retirement match being Gunther, but the 17-time World Champion isn't sweating it.
During a recent interview with All Axxess, the elder Cena didn't hold back his thoughts about his son's final opponent, saying he would've preferred to see legends like Edge, Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle and JBL in that spot instead of Gunther.
"Well, it certainly wouldn't be Gunther, that's for sure. I don't think that that's a wise move," Cena Sr. said (h/t Felix Upton of Ringside News). "I don't think the fans would enjoy that move. Myself, personally, Gunther does not need the rub. By the way, I'm not a fan of on the way out, you've got to push somebody over the top. You're supposed to pass, quote unquote, the torch. I don't know whether that's written anywhere in professional wrestling."
Cena reacted to his father's comments during his appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience, saying that he's learned to accept his opinionated nature despite sometimes being frustrated by what he says.
"Man when we sit, there's some s--t he'll say that's all f--ked up, he said some s--t yesterday that like 'I don't think John's last opponent should be', and people listen to him because he's a wrestling fan," Cena said.
He continued: "He's in the kind of weird subculture zeitgeist. And I want to call my dad and be like 'What the f--k are you doing?' But then, like no, he's doing what he does. This is him. This is the John Cena that I love."
Cena will face Gunther at Saturday Night's Main Event on Dec. 13 in the final match of his legendary career. Despite his father's comments, fans are excited to see the longtime face of WWE perform one last time.
Update on Penta's Shoulder Injury
After suffering a shoulder injury during his match against Solo Sikoa in the Last Time Is Now Tournament, Penta could be on his way back to the ring soon.
Penta's physician, Dr. Odiseo, released a statement on Instagram saying the masked WWE Superstar is progressing in rehab.
"We've been undergoing treatment for almost two weeks now and we've made a lot of progress," Odiseo said (h/t Steve Carrier of Ringside News). "Obviously, who knows if he'll be ready to return by December 20, for Guerra de Titanes and all that, although he's doing really well. I see a lot of enthusiasm in him. He's a great person who's fighting through everything related to his shoulder and all the things that could hold him back."
AAA's Guerra de Titanes is scheduled for Dec. 20 and was set to feature the reunion of Penta and his brother, Rey Fenix, in a tag team match against Dominik Mysterio and El Grande Americano.
The high-profile match could pave the way for Penta and Fenix to start teaming together on a regular basis, so fans were certainly excited to see them team up for the first time since joining WWE.
Still, Penta will need to be cleared by WWE's physicians before getting the chance to compete at Guerra de Titanes.
"We're doing well, but ultimately it doesn't depend on Penta or me—it depends on the W. If they decide he's ready to return, that's their decision to make," Odiseo said, per Carrier.
