Chris Henry Jr., 247Sports' No. 1 wide receiver in the class of 2026, announced Friday on the Pat McAfee Show that he will play his college football at Ohio State.

It was originally reported that Henry had committed to Ohio State on Wednesday as part of early national signing day, but Henry later announced in a post on X that he hadn't yet officially signed:

Per Keegan Pope of Rivals.com, Henry was prepared to commit to Ohio State on Wednesday, but he delayed his decision after OSU offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach Brian Hartline took the head coaching job at South Florida.

On Friday, Henry decided between Ohio State, Oregon, USC, and Texas.

A star at Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California, Henry is rated by 247Sports as a 5-star prospect, as well as the No. 10 overall recruit, No. 1 wideout and No. 1 player from California in his recruiting class.

Henry has high-level college football and NFL bloodlines as his late father, Chris Henry, played at West Virginia University and later for the Cincinnati Bengals.

After the elder Henry was selected in the third round of the 2005 NFL draft, he recorded 119 receptions for 1,826 yards and 21 touchdowns over five NFL seasons.

At 6'5" and 205 pounds, Henry Jr. boasts similar size, speed and explosiveness as his father, which is why he is such a highly sought-after recruit.

The 247Sports director of scouting, Andrew Ivins, pointed to Houston Texans star wide receiver Nico Collins as a player with a comparable skill set to that of Henry.

Collins starred at the University of Michigan before becoming a Pro Bowl wideout with the Texans.

Despite the uncertainty regarding how the offense and receivers will be coached at Ohio State with Hartline set to leave, Henry still decided that he wants to play under Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day.

Ohio State has been a wide receiver factory in terms of churning out quality players at the position to the NFL, plus it won a national title last season and is still undefeated this season, so OSU always felt like a natural fit.
