Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Following their interactions during and after the men's WarGames match at Survivor Series last weekend, there are reportedly plans in place for an eventual match between Roman Reigns and WWE champion Cody Rhodes.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t WrestlePurists), a Reigns vs. Rhodes title match is expected to happen, although it is not guaranteed to take place at WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas.
Meltzer added that Seth Rollins wants to compete at WrestleMania, and while it is too early to know for sure if he will be cleared in time to do so, he reportedly could be a factor if Reigns vs. Rhodes does not occur at WrestleMania.
Reigns and Rhodes were on the same WarGames team, and after they lost to the team made up of Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, Brock Lesnar, Logan Paul and Drew McIntyre, there was a confrontation.
A clearly frustrated Reigns stared Rhodes down and told him he would never team with him again.
On the Raw prior to Survivor Series, Reigns had a promo segment with Rhodes and world heavyweight CM Punk, and he expressed his desire to go after a title, but The Tribal Chief didn't specify which one.
Since Reigns helped Punk up and fist bumped him before his confrontation with Rhodes at Survivor Series, it is widely assumed that Reigns vs. Rhodes is in the works.
Reigns and Rhodes headlined WrestleMania 39 and 40 with Reigns winning the first match and Rhodes winning the second. If they face off at WrestleMania 42, it would make for a blockbuster rubber match.
Rollins has been out of action since the Raw after Crown Jewel in October due to a shoulder injury suffered during his Crown Jewel win over Rollins.
No definitive timeline has been given for Rollins' return, but he did recently say on Something's Burning with Bert Kreischer (h/t Steve Carrier of Ringside News) that he could be back by April, which is when WrestleMania will be held.
Since Rollins was world heavyweight champion before getting injured, it would perhaps make more sense for him to go after Punk, or even Breakker and Reed since they put him on the shelf in a storyline sense, but Rollins' status bears monitoring in the coming months.
TNA Reportedly Wants AJ Styles Match
AJ Styles is perhaps the biggest and most successful star in TNA history, and his former company is reportedly eyeing a collaboration in the near future.
According to Meltzer (h/t WrestlePurists), a WWE source said TNA would like Styles to come in for a match on the debut episode of Impact on AMC on Jan. 15, 2026.
Before signing with WWE in 2016, Styles was the face of TNA for much of his tenure there from 2002 to 2014.
The Phenomenal One was a five-time world champion, six-time X-Division champion and six-time tag team champion in TNA, setting the stage for him to become a two-time world champion, three-time United States champion, one-time intercontinental champion and two-time tag team champion in WWE.
Due to the official partnership between WWE and TNA, Styles was able to make a one-night return to TNA at Slammiversary back in July.
Styles did not compete in a match, but he did receive a huge ovation from the live audience, and he congratulated Leon Slater on winning the X-Division title.
TNA and WWE have been exchanging talent for the past year, and while that has primarily related to NXT rather than Raw or SmackDown, it is at least a possibility that Styles could have a match in TNA if both sides agree on the terms.
In October, Styles confirmed that he plans on making 2026 his final year as an active in-ring competitor, much like John Cena did this year:
If that proves to be the case, it would make for a memorable moment if he is given clearance to wrestle in TNA one final time as part of his retirement tour.
Styles would also be a huge draw for TNA's first Impact as part of its new television deal, meaning there is room for all parties involved to benefit.
Nikki Bella Reportedly Could Become Manager
WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella returned to the ring this year for another run with the company, but her future in wrestling reportedly could be in a different role.
According to Meltzer (h/t WrestlePurists), there has been talk in WWE about possibly transitioning Bella from a wrestler into a manager down the line.
Nikki hadn't wrestled since being an entrant in the 2022 women's Royal Rumble match, but she returned as a surprise entrant in the 2025 women's Royal Rumble match, and she has competed in several more matches since then.
Notably, Bella recently turned heel and entered into a rivalry with women's world champion Stephanie Vaquer.
They had a title match at Survivor Series last weekend, which Vaquer won in order to retain the Women's World Championship.
The 42-year-old Bella has already accomplished a great deal as a wrestler, including holding the Divas Championship on two occasions.
A run as women's tag team champion should her twin sister, Brie Bella, return to a WWE ring at some point would make sense, but other than that, Nikki has little left to prove.
If she wants to remain in WWE once her in-ring career is over, becoming a manager is a move that could give her some longevity.
She has the name recognition and star power needed to help get other wrestlers over, plus her years of experience would allow her to take bumps when needed.
There aren't a ton of managers in wrestling these days, especially in WWE, but given Bella's status as one of the most popular women's wrestlers of the past 20 years, it is a role she could potentially excel in.
