Boxer Chris Eubank Jr. Reveals Health Issues in IG Video, Won't Fight Until He's 100%
Chris Eubank Jr. is stepping away from boxing for the time being to deal with health concerns.
In a post on social media, Eubank revealed he has "been dealing with a lot of health issues over the past year" and he will stay out of the ring until he's "back to 100 percent" physically.
Eubank did not provide any specific details on what the issue is, nor how long he was hospitalized. The 36-year-old recently lost by unanimous decision to Chris Benn on Nov. 15.
Speaking to reporters after the bout, Eubank dismissed a question about potentially retiring before alluding to something being wrong with him in the lead up to the fight:
"I've been through hell and back to make it here. I genuinely thought that regardless of the issues that I have been dealing with, I would be able to go in there and win, use my boxing skills and use what I used in the first fight to beat Conor Benn.
"From that first round, I realized that I was mistaken, but it's OK. I'm a fighter and this is what I do. Regardless of the dangers and the risk, we go to war and that's what we do. I tried my best. Conor Benn put on a hell of a fight, he had a great performance and did everything that was asked of him. I congratulate him for his performance."
Ben Shalom, Eubank's promoter, told ESPN's James Dielhenn that Eubank was "was half the man he could have been" entering the bout with Benn.
Eubank has been fighting professionally since 2011. He has a 35-4 career record, winning the WBA interim middleweight title twice and IBO super middleweight title twice.
The England native won the vacant IBO middleweight championship by defeating Kamil Szeremeta via seventh-round TKO in October 2024.
