WWE NXT Results, Winners, Live Grades, Reaction and Highlights From Nov. 25

Chris Mueller

Welcome to Bleacher Report's live coverage of WWE NXT on November 25.

It's the second week of NXT Gold Rush, which means almost every match we saw had a title on the line.

The only non-title contest saw Myles Borne take on the man he took out with a chair last week, Trick Williams.

Both the men's and women's Evolve titles were on the line, as was the women's Speed Championship and the TNA Knockout's title.

We also saw John Cena pick the men's and women's competitors for the upcoming Iron Survivor matches.

Let's take a look at what happened on this week's episode of NXT.

Sean Legacy vs. Jackson Drake

1 of 6

The men's Evolve Championship was on the line in the first matchup when Jackson Drake put the belt on the line against Sean Legacy.

They didn't start with a lockup like you would expect. They began more like you would think MMA fighters would. They were throwing strikes to feel each other out before Drake wrestled Legacy to the mat.

Legacy was definitely the crowd's favorite. He was getting cheers for just about everything he did, and Drake did a great job playing into it as the bad guy.

If you have seen these guys on Evolve or their few appearances on NXT, then you knew what to expect. This was a high-energy match that had a bunch of fun spots, but also had a few hiccups.

The crowd was definitely enjoying it and seemed hyped for a possible title change, but it wasn't meant to be. Legacy came close a few times, but Drake was able to get the win with a running knee to retain his belt.

Result: Drake defeated Legacy

Grade: B

Notable Moments and Observations

  • Drake and his crew got some decent heel heat.
  • Legacy's standing moonsault was nice.
  • The way Legacy hit the steps after Drake attacked him from behind looked nasty. His head appeared to make more contact than he intended.
  • Drake basically let go of a pin instead of Legacy kicking out.
  • Legacy's backflip powerslam from the top rope was a cool spot.

Zaria vs. Fallon Henley

2 of 6

The vacant women's Speed Championship found a new home on Tuesday when Zaria battled Henley in the finals of the tournament that has been going on for a few weeks.

Zaria had an obvious power advantage, so Henley tried to use her speed and experience to keep her at bay.

The first half of this five-minute fight was back-and-forth, but once Zaria locked in a Texas cloverleaf, it was clear Henley was fighting an uphill battle.

Both competitors played to their strengths and managed to pack a lot into the time they were given without feeling too rushed, which can often be an issue with these Speed matches.

They got to the last minute and the powerhouse appeared to be spent. Henley hit a DDT but couldn't get the pin. The timer ran out as Zaria had her up on her shoulders for a move. Ava came out and said they needed a winner, so she declared the match would continue.

The way they kept this going felt contrived, but at least we didn't have to wait another week to get a new champion.

The other members of Fatal Influence helped give Henley and unfair advantage and she was able to get the win to claim the vacant title.

Result: Henley defeated Zaria

Grade: C

Notable Moments and Observations

  • WWE used more lighting around the ring to indicate which minute of the match we were in. It was distracting at first, but it was an interesting idea.
  • Zaria didn't do a very good job of looking surprised by Henley's corner kick.
  • Having Ava come out and keep the match going felt like a cheap move in a match like this. It's why the whole time limit concept is flawed in this situation.

Kelani Jordan vs. Jordynne Grace vs. Lei Ying Lee

3 of 6

John Cena appeared this week to announce the participants in the men's Iron Survivor matches. The men will be Je'Von Evans, Joe Hendry, Leon Slater, Dion Lennox, and the winner of Williams vs. Borne.

The next match was for the TNA Knockout's Championship. Jordan defended the belt against Jordynn Grace and Lei Ying Lee, who used to compete in WWE as Xia Li.

All three women started throwing hands as soon as the bell rang. Nobody could get a clear advantage because nobody was working together. It was every woman for herself.

It felt like each woman had a unique style. Grace was the powerhouse, Lee was the striker and Jordan was the most agile. All three of them are talented performers, so they had no problems making their styles work together.

This was a solid performance from three superstars at different points in their careers. Jordan may have had the least experience, but she was also the champ, so it created an interesting dynamic.

After a hard-fought battle, Lee secured the win. Carlos Silva from TNA presented her with the title as she celebrated with a happy crowd.

Result: Lee defeated Grace and Jordan

Grade: B

Notable Moments and Observations

  • We got another weird promo from Shiloh Hill.
  • It's kind of sad that Lee's biggest opportunity in a WWE ring had to happen while she was with TNA instead of when she was actually part of the WWE roster.
  • Lee's blockbuster to Jordan and Jordynne at the same time looked cool.
  • Grace doing a German suplex to Lee at the same time that Lee hit a northern lights suplex on Jordan was a great spot.

Kendal Grey vs. Lainey Reid

4 of 6

The women's Evolve Championship was the final title match for this Gold Rush episode. Grey defended the title against Reid, but Ava banned Jacy Jayne and Henley from ringside to keep the fight fair.

Reid had a slight size advantage, but Grey wasted no time taking her down by both legs and hitting a few slams. She almost had an armbar locked in, but Reid was able to counter and take control.

This may have been for a title, but it felt like their personal rivalry was what drove Grey to be so aggressive early in the match.

Reid had the upper hand throughout the break and into the next segment. However, Fatal Influence did not leave Gold Rush with three titles. Grey recovered after countering a running knee into a powerslam.

Jayne and Henley showed up despite being banned from ringside, but Sinclair and a returning Charlie Dempsey helped keep them at bay. Grey ate a stiff superkick, but she turned a moonsault into a German suplex before hitting her finisher for the win.

Result: Grey defeated Reid

Grade: B-

Notable Moments and Observations

  • No matter how long it is, hearing Ricky Saints say that name instead of saying Ricky Starks is still going to be weird.
  • Grey is already miles ahead of most Evolve talents. She should be moved to NXT and then the main roster quickly. The main roster needs an injection of youth and she would be perfect.
  • The way Reid tripped Gray into the steel steps from the apron looked nasty. They used the perfect angle to mask the impact so it looked worse than it was.

Myles Borne vs. Trick Williams

5 of 6

This week's main event was a qualifying bout for the Iron Survivor match with Borne taking on Williams for the last open spot.

As soon as the bell rang, Williams leveled Borne with a clothesline to take control. The former NQCC member tried to mount a comeback, but Williams kept putting him back down.

Borne is not a small man, so seeing how much bigger Williams was really drove home how huge he actually is. He is proportionally built, so his size can be deceptive until you see him next to someone else.

The former NXT and TNA champion was putting on a dominant performance throughout most of the match, but Borne kept showing signs of life here and there.

Borne began to build some momentum after he drove Trick's knee into the steel steps. He hit two of his finishers in a row to get the pin and advance to Deadline in the Iron Survivor match. It was a little surprising how clean this finish was, but that is never a bad thing.

Result: Borne defeated Williams

Grade: B

Notable Moments and Observations

  • Booker T wasn't as bad as usual this week on commentary. He offered a few insights and didn't go overboard on his catchphrases.
  • If WWE books him right, Borne could be a popular singles star on the main roster. His story is inspirational, and more importantly, he's good between the ropes.

The Final Word

6 of 6

As the show was ending, DarkState came out to surround Borne in the ring. Hendry, Slater and Evans showed up to offer some backup, ending the show in a four on four standoff.

This week's NXT was decent in terms of in-ring action, but most of the results were relatively predictable.

Legacy and Drake put on a fun opening bout that got the crowd hyped, and Borne and Williams did a good job closing it.

However, the match you should definitely take the time to see is the TNA Knockouts title bout. Lee winning the title was a nice moment, especially after WWE botched her run with the company a few years ago.
