4-Star QB Troy Huhn Commits to Va Tech, Decommitted from PSU After James Franklin Exit
Troy Huhn, a 4-star quarterback prospect from San Marcos, California, has committed to Virginia Tech, according to ESPN's Eli Lederman.
Huhn, who was previously committed to Penn State but de-committed shortly after James Franklin was fired, is following the head coach to Blacksburg.
Monday's decision also came after 3-star quarterback Cole Bergeron decommitted from Virginia Tech.
Huhn is considered the No. 309 overall player in the Class of 2026, the No. 27 player from the state of California and the No. 21 quarterback, per 247Sports' Composite Rankings.
Andrew Ivins of the scouting site noted that Huhn has a "prototypical frame that has proven to be clinical working off of play-action with his smooth mechanics and field vision" and noted that he "must cut down on the turnovers and learn how to be an amplifying element in suboptimal situations, but has tools to mold for the long haul."
Five different prospects have now made the jump from Penn State to Virginia Tech, including 4-star running back Messiah Mickens (No. 141 overall), 4-star tight end Pierce Petersohn (No. 293), 4-star offensive tackle Marlen Bright and 3-star offensive tackle Roseby Lubintus.
The Nittany Lions, meanwhile, are still engaged in their coaching search.
