Prediction
There are several major contenders to emerge victorious in the 2026 World Cup including Brazil, France, Spain, England, Portugal and Argentina.
France won the World Cup in 2018 and nearly captured a second consecutive trophy in 2022, but narrowly fell to Argentina in the final. The 2026 French squad boasts Kylian Mbappé, Désiré Doué and 2025 Ballon d'Or winner Ousmane Dembélé.
Cristiano Ronaldo will be attempting to bring Portugal its first World Cup, while Argentina is now vying to become the first country to win consecutive World Cups since Brazil in 1962.
The 2026 Brazilian squad contains a front line featuring Vinicius Junior and Richarlison while Marquinhos leads the defense.
Still, it's hard to ignore Spain and its explosive attack. Despite suffering Round of 16 exits in both 2018 and 2022, the combination of Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams along with 2024 Ballon d'Or winner Rodri should be too much for any other squad to overcome.
