Harry Kane and the BS Meter on the Latest World Football Transfer Rumors for November

Leo CollisNov 14, 2025

When it comes to world football transfer rumors, it's always wise to take reports with a hefty pinch of salt.

However, there's no smoke without fire.

The first day of 2026 will herald the start of the winter transfer window. With clubs facing one more chance to add talent to sustain a title challenge, push for a European berth, or avoid a relegation fight, there will certainly be movement in the market up until February 2.

Of the rumors doing the rounds, which have the air of believability, and which carry the undeniable smell of BS?

Ahead, we've scoured the latest reports to cast judgment on potential player switches.

Declan Rice to Real Madrid

1 of 9
Sunderland v Arsenal - Premier League

If Real Madrid were unfamiliar with Declan Rice before April 2025, he certainly announced himself to the Spaniards when Arsenal hosted them at the Emirates Stadium in last season's Champions League quarterfinal first leg.

The England midfielder smashed home two stunning free-kicks 12 minutes apart to put his side on the path to the semifinal.

However, for those who did know about Rice's game, they could have told you that he's one of the Premier League's finest midfield talents.

The 26-year-old is a natural leader, a tough tackler, and a breaker of lines. He also boasts an impressive motor and durability, which are coveted traits among teams competing across multiple competitions. Real Madrid certainly falls into that bracket.

According to Fichajes, via Caught Offside, the La Liga side wants to break the bank for the England star, with a £132 million ($177 million) offer being prepared.

It's an obscene amount of money, but it's hard to argue that Rice wouldn't be worth such an outlay. After signing for the Gunners for £100 million ($131 million) in 2023 from West Ham United, his value has only continued to rise.

The North Londoners are top of the Premier League after nearly a third of the campaign and are undefeated in the Champions League. No matter how big the bag of money is, there is simply no chance the Gunners will countenance a sale in January.

BS Meter: Absolutely reeks. It's massive BS

Marc Guehi to Liverpool

2 of 9
Crystal Palace FC v AZ Alkmaar - UEFA Conference League 2025/26 League Phase MD3

On the final day of the 2025 summer transfer window, it looked like Liverpool had sealed a last-gasp deal for center-back Marc Guehi.

However, with Crystal Palace unable to secure a replacement in time, the switch fell through.

The England international's contract will expire at the end of the season, so while the Reds might have missed their target, they could still sign him up in January for a lot less than they would have paid in September, or wait until he's available on a free next summer.

The Daily Mail reported that Real Madrid has cooled interest in the 25-year-old, leaving the path a little clearer for Liverpool to attempt another swoop.

While Liverpool is having significant issues all over the pitch while trying to integrate a clutch of big-money players, the defense is perhaps the biggest area of concern.

With Virgil van Dijk seemingly losing a step every game and Ibrahima Konate prone to high-profile errors, the Reds need to bolster the back line and fast.

Because of that, they might not wait until the conclusion of the campaign to make a move, especially since competition will be fiercer with clubs looking to sign up a full international defender on a free transfer.

BS Meter: Odor free. Not BS.

Rodrygo to Tottenham

3 of 9
Rayo Vallecano V Real Madrid C.f. - Laliga Ea Sports

Tottenham Hotspur hasn't exactly impressed in 2025-26, but things are looking a lot more promising under Thomas Frank than they did under Ange Postecoglou (Europa League title aside).

The North Londoners are fifth in the Premier League, which looks a lot better than the 17th-place finish they achieved last season.

Despite stocking up well in the summer—with Xavi Simons and Mohammed Kudus arriving, Kevin Danso's and Mathys Tel's short-term deals becoming permanent, and João Palhinha and Randal Kolo Muani joining on loan—Spurs are still on the lookout for new stars.

With a Champions League campaign in full swing, Tottenham will want to continue their European adventures next season.

According to the BBC, Spanish publication Fichajes reported the Lilywhites will bid for out-of-favor Real Madrid forward Rodrygo in January.

The Brazilian's future at the club looks bleak following the arrival of Xabi Alonso in the dugout, playing just 359 minutes of a possible 1,170 in La Liga and the Champions League this season, making the starting XI just three times.

Apparently, it will take £70 million ($92 million) to prise the 24-year-old away from the Spanish capital.

If Rodrygo is available, he's likely to be highly coveted, and it's difficult to see Spurs beating the competition for his signature. Whether they have the available funds is another huge question mark.

BS Meter: Smells pretty bad. It's BS.

Kobbie Mainoo to Napoli

4 of 9
Manchester United v Brighton & Hove Albion - Premier League

The emergence of Kobbie Mainoo was one of the few bright spots under the frustrating final months of Erik ten Hag's Manchester United tenure.

The 20-year-old academy product was seen as the future of the Red Devils' midfield, even picking up 10 caps for the England senior team.

However, the arrival of Ruben Amorim has seen Mainoo confined to the bench, clocking up just 138 minutes in the league so far in 2025-26, and he's yet to start a game outside of an embarrassing Carabao Cup defeat to Grimsby Town.

Napoli has rescued an undervalued United midfielder before, plucking Scott McTominay from Old Trafford and watching him flourish at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Manager Antonio Conte could be looking to repeat the trick, with Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t OneFootball) suggesting Mainoo is a top target for the reigning Serie A champions.

A loan deal looks entirely possible, which could be a win-win for all parties.

BS Meter: Fresh as a daisy. No BS here.

Conor Gallagher to Manchester United

5 of 9
Atletico de Madrid v R. Union Saint-Gilloise - UEFA Champions League 2025/26 League Phase MD4

After signing Mason Mount in 2023, Manchester United is reportedly looking at another former Chelsea academy product.

Mount's opportunities have been minimal, with injury scuppering the midfielder's growth in the north west. But, according to Fabrizio Romano, via Give Me Sport, that hasn't put off the Red Devils from tapping the Cobham talent line again.

Conor Gallagher's time at Atletico Madrid hasn't seen him develop into an undroppable midfield cog, but he's still made 66 appearances across all competitions in a little over a season, scoring six and providing six assists.

Ominous numbers aside (although perhaps perfect for the "Red Devils"), the midfielder can now boast experience in the English and Spanish top flight, and he has played 21 Champions League games.

That's pretty impressive for someone who is still just 25 years old and who showed his quality in flashes during his Premier League years with West Bromwich Albion, Crystal Palace, and Chelsea.

It's likely Atletico would be happy to sanction a transfer for the right price, and with United in need of midfield depth, the rumor does make a certain amount of sense.

It might all hinge on whether Mainoo departs for pastures new, either on loan or permanently.

BS Meter: A hint of stink. Slightly registers on the BS Meter.

Julian Alvarez to Barcelona

6 of 9
Atletico de Madrid v Levante UD - LaLiga EA Sports

Julian Alvarez has been brilliant for Atletico Madrid since joining from Manchester City in the summer of 2024.

The Argentine has scored 38 and assisted 12 in 72 games for the side from the Spanish capital, although Atletico hasn't exactly given him the kind of success his performances have deserved.

Los Rojiblancos finished third in La Liga last season, 12 points back of league-winners Barcelona. After 12 games in the 2025-26 domestic campaign, they are already six points off pace-setters and city rivals Real.

With that in mind, it wouldn't be a surprise if the 25-year-old was casting his gaze elsewhere for more opportunities to lift silverware.

Reigning Spanish champions Barcelona wouldn't be a bad landing spot, and L'Equipe was not shy to ask Alvarez whether he fancied playing for the Blaugrana or Ligue 1 heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain.

"I see what people say on social media," he told the French publication, via Goal. "In Spain, people speak a lot about me and Barcelona. For now, I am focused on Atletico, and we will review at the end of the season."

That wasn't exactly a "no," but it seems doubtful that Barça could actually make a move happen.

The club's financial issues are well documented, and signing Alvarez would likely require a lot more than the £82 million ($108 million) Atletico paid for his services in the first place.

BS Meter: Serious, serious BS.

Ibrahima Konate to Bayern Munich

7 of 9
Liverpool FC v Real Madrid C.F. - UEFA Champions League 2025/26 League Phase MD4

After contract drama surrounding Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, and Trent Alexander-Arnold last season, Liverpool is now dealing with Ibrahima Konate's reluctance to sign a new deal.

The Frenchman will be out of contract at the end of the season, and it's not a surprise that big clubs will be looking to snap him up on a free transfer (or for a cut-price deal in January).

Real Madrid has been linked, but according to Bild, via Goal, Bayern Munich is in contact with the player's entourage.

Interestingly, Konate's former RB Leipzig teammate Dayot Upamecano is also in a similar situation at Bayern, with the 27-year-old running his contract down with the Bundesliga champions.

With that in mind, the Bavarians will likely want to fill the spot quickly, and Konate provides an excellent opportunity.

In January, Konate will be in the final six months of his deal, meaning he will be free to negotiate with clubs outside England.

However, even if he agrees to a switch to Munich—following the path taken by former Liverpool stars Sadio Mane and Luis Diaz—that doesn't mean he'll leave the Reds in January.

With Liverpool's center-back situation as precarious as it is, they won't consider selling the player early, even if it means recouping a fee. Just like Alexander-Arnold, it's more likely that the Reds will dig in their heels before letting him depart Anfield in the summer.

BS Meter: BS now, but not for long

Jonathan David to Chelsea

8 of 9
Juventus FC v Torino FC - Serie A

In the summer of 2025, Jonathan David was one of the hottest free agents available.

The Canadian international eventually decided to swap Lille for Juventus, with the Italians enticed by his impressive scoring record of 109 goals in 232 games for the Ligue 1 side.

However, things haven't quite worked out so far, with just one goal in 14 games in all competitions.

According to Tuttomercato, via ESPN, the Old Lady is looking to flip the player for a quick profit, and Chelsea is always in the market for new talent—and outrageous prices don't seem to faze the Blues.

Despite Chelsea's apparent inability to avoid the allure of a shiny new player, David's start to life in Serie A will signal the step up in quality from Ligue 1, which was a bit too much for the 25-year-old.

Although the Blues are still in need of a world-class striker, with Liam Delap not yet demonstrating he can fill that void, they will likely be looking for a more proven, higher-caliber option than David.

BS Meter: Complete BS.

Harry Kane to Barcelona

9 of 9
1. FC Union Berlin v FC Bayern München - Bundesliga

With Robert Lewandowski's Barcelona contract set to expire at the end of the season and no sign of an extension in sight, the club appears to be in the market for a replacement veteran goal machine.

According to the Guardian, the Blaugrana have set their sights on Harry Kane, with a reported £57 million ($75 million) release clause in the Englishman's Bayern Munich contract.

While that's a lot less than what it would cost to sign Alvarez, it still looks like too steep a fee for the club to cough up. A deal could be brokered to reduce that cost, with the 32-year-old's deal with the Bundesliga club due to expire at the end of the 2026-27 campaign, but a transfer still might be out of Barça's budget.

For Kane's part, he might be keen to try to add to his late-blooming trophy cabinet and test out another league as his career enters its latter years.

Lewandowski has successfully extended his goalscoring greatness in La Liga at the age of 37, and the Pole made the same journey from Germany to Spain when he turned 33 (for a similar fee, too).

For January, this switch doesn't look likely. However, keep an eye out for movement in the summer.
