NFL Draft 2026 Scouting Report for LSU LB Whit Weeks

Matt HolderDec 2, 2025

Whit Weeks has the potential to become an impact NFL defender in three different phases: in coverage, as a pass-rusher and against the run.

He's an impressive athlete to be effective in coverage right away, while showing promise as a run defender to develop into a complete linebacker and solid starter if he adds more size and strength.

The 6'2, 225-pound junior went to LSU as a 4-star recruit in the 2023 class and made three starts as a true freshman, collecting 49 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and half a sack.

In 2024, he experienced a breakout campaign with 125 total tackles, including an SEC-leading 61 solo stops, 10.5 TFLs, 3.5 sacks, an interception, three passes defended and two forced fumbles to earn first-team all-conference honors. However, Weeks regressed this past season with just 74 tackles, eight TFLs and 2.5 sacks.

The downturn is partially due to suffering a broken ankle and fractured fibula during the Tigers' bowl game, resulting in offseason surgery and him missing all of the team's spring practices. Also, he's missed games in 2025 with a bone bruise on the same ankle.

Matt Holder has been a part of B/R's Scouting Department for four seasons. He also writes about the Las Vegas Raiders and NFL draft for SB Nation's Silver and Black Pride, and co-hosts a YouTube Channel, Tape Don't Lie, providing film breakdowns and more draft prospect analysis.

Where He Wins

1 of 4
South Carolina v LSU

- Weeks is an impressive athlete with good speed, burst and start-stop ability to help stay in-phase against running backs and tight ends in man coverage or trigger-and-close when playing zone.

- Fluid hips to turn-and-run and carry vertical routes from a trail position.

- Uses his hands well in coverage to help force reroute or stay in-phase.

- Displays a decent vertical to help make plays on the ball.

- Decent instincts against the run, solid at mirroring running backs and knows when to shoot gaps.

- Speed increases range against the run.

- Takes on blocks with his hands to help escape. Weeks can stack and shed against tight ends.

- Uses his athleticism well as a pass-rusher, showing good stick and arm-over moves to get pressure when blitzing.

Areas of Improvement

2 of 4
Louisiana Tech v LSU

- Weeks needs to add size and strength to hold his ground when taking on blocks from offensive linemen.

- Appears to have shorter arms, limiting how much extension he gets when taking on blocks and making it difficult for him to escape blocks.

- Doesn't use his quickness and athletic ability to slip blocks on the second level.

- Lacks force behind his tackles and will give up extra yards after contact.

- Likes to lunge and leave his feet when tackling, leading to misses.

- Struggles to recognize ball fakes, often chasing running backs and leaving the middle of the field open against play-action passes.

- Awareness in zone coverage has diminished in 2025 compared to the '24 campaign. He'll often leave receivers open in his area.
