Oregon's Dante Moore, Dakorien Moore Sign Nike NIL Contracts Amid 2025 CFB Season
Oregon quarterback Dante Moore and wide receiver Dakorien Moore have signed NIL deals with Nike as part of the company's new Grateful Dead collection in honor of the legendary band.
Nike released news about the collection this morning, which featured Dante and Dakorien Moore in an ad. Steve Samra of On3 reported news on the Moores' NIL deals and involvement in the campaign.
There's a strong connection between Oregon and the Grateful Dead, as explained in the press release.
"Both the Grateful Ducks collection and Nike game day apparel carry forward the shared history of the University of Oregon and Grateful Dead, which began in 1965 when novelist and Merry Pranksters leader Ken Kesey returned home to Oregon from San Francisco, bringing with him the energy that fueled the psychedelic and countercultural movement. In 1968, the Grateful Dead performed their first concert at the University of Oregon's EMU Ballroom, forging a bond that transcended music. As Grateful Dead archivist David Lemieux described, the university became the band's 'home away from home.'
"That relationship deepened in 1972, when the band returned to play a legendary benefit concert for the Kesey family's Springfield Creamery, makers of Nancy's Yogurt, saving the business and delivering one of the most storied performances in rock history.
"The Grateful Dead ultimately played more than 20 shows in Eugene, including 10 at Autzen Stadium, reinforcing the city and university's position as a creative hub at the intersection of music, art and athleticism."
Oregon football sits sixth in the Associated Press poll after a 6-1 start. The Ducks have been strong on both ends of the ball, averaging the second-most points per game (44.1) and allowing the eighth-fewest PPG (14.4). Oregon's lone loss was at home to now-No. 2 Indiana, 30-20, in a game that was tied at 20 in the fourth quarter.
Both Dante Moore and Dakorien Moore (no relation) have played a big part in that strong start. Dante Moore has completed 72.3 percent of his passes for 1,686 yards (9.0 yards per attempt), 19 touchdowns and just four interceptions. Dakorien Moore is the team's leading wide receiver with 25 receptions for 398 yards and three scores.
The Ducks immediately bounced back with a 56-10 road win at Rutgers and will now return to Eugene to host Wisconsin on Saturday evening.
