Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Rumors recently surfaced that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson could make his return to WWE at the Survivor Series premium live event on Nov. 29, but it sounds like fans will have to wait a while longer to see the Final Boss back in the ring.
Steve Carrier of Ringside News reported that he has confirmed that "there is currently no internal talk within WWE about The Rock being involved with this year's event." The Rock had his debut match in WWE at the 1996 Survivor Series pay-per-view, so it would've been a full-circle moment if he made his comeback at the show this year.
After kicking off the historic heel turn by John Cena at the Elimination Chamber premium live event in March, The Rock hasn't been seen in WWE since. His absence during the buildup to WrestleMania 41 left fans disappointed, but his acting commitments didn't leave much room for any other endeavors.
The Rock is currently on the promotional trail for The Smashing Machine, which will be released on Friday. He's also set to star in "a major film project alongside Martin Scorsese, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Emily Blunt—a Hawaii-based crime epic described as The Departed meets Goodfellas," per Carrier. He recently showed off a massive 60-pound weight loss, so it can be expected that he won't be in the ring anytime soon.
Without The Rock, WWE will have to find another way to generate buzz for the last "Big 4" PLE of the year.
Roman Reigns Reportedly Set for Survivor Series Appearance
Roman Reigns has followed his cousin The Rock down the acting route, but that reportedly won't stop him from participating in a marquee match at Survivor Series.
Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Reigns will finish his filming commitments for the upcoming Street Fighter movie in time to wrestle at the premium live event.
"Reigns was to finish filming [Street Fighter] this week. So he'll be available to come back," Meltzer wrote (h/t Felix Upton of Ringside News). "He's scheduled for Survivor Series which is probably going to be another War Games with Reigns & Usos and two others against The Vision (the name the [Seth] Rollins group is going by) and two others."
Reigns has been embroiled in a rivalry with Rollins dating back to WrestleMania 41, when Paul Heyman betrayed him to join forces with Rollins, who is now the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Since then, Reigns has reunited with his cousins The Usos, while Rollins formed The Vision with rising Superstars Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed.
It sounds like things will come to a head at Survivor Series, as both factions could get the chance to settle their differences in a War Games match.
Details on Brock Lesnar's Upcoming Schedule Reportedly Revealed
After Brock Lesnar destroyed John Cena at the Wrestlepalooza premium live event earlier this month, many are wondering what's next for The Beast.
However, it sounds like Lesnar won't be seen again anytime soon. Per Steve Carrier of Ringside News, Fightful Select recently reported, "Those we spoke to said that he's off television for a while."
Carrier pointed out that sources confirmed that Lesnar is "internally listed" in plans for the 2026 Royal Rumble and WrestleMania 42, so it seems that his future appearances are being saved for major events.
Per Carrier, reports from Bodyslam.net "suggest" that Bron Breakker is "being discussed internally" as a future opponent for Lesnar. There's reportedly an idea for a young Superstar to ignite a rivalry with Lesnar by eliminating him in the Royal Rumble, so it will be interesting to see if Breakker gets the nod.
For now, it appears that it will be a while before Lesnar is back in the ring, so WWE has a lot of time to prepare for his next appearance.
