Justin Rose Talks Argument with Bryson DeChambeau in Viral Ryder Cup Video on Day 2

It's not uncommon for emotions to run high at the Ryder Cup, and that was the case again on Saturday.

To set the scene, Team Europe's Justin Rose and Tommy Fleetwood were three-up on the United States' Bryson DeChambeau and Scottie Scheffler on the 15th hole during Saturday four-ball action. Rose found himself with a 15-foot birdie putt, and DeChambeau had an 11-footer.

Rose was eyeing up a putt and next to act, but he caught Chambeau's caddie, Greg Bodine, in his line of sight as he was prepping the shot. He did not take kindly to the action and told him to move out of the way.

Rose sunk his putt, but DeChambeau did as well to keep the match alive.

Afterward, DeChambeau started yelling at Rose, with Fleetwood in the middle of the two trying to keep the peace. Both sides got heated as they walked up a hill to the 16th hole, with Scheffler's caddy, Ted Scott, notably saying a few words to Team Europe vice captain Francesco Molinari.

Eventually, cooler heads prevailed. The match ended after the two sides halved the 16th hole, giving Team Europe the win, 3-and-2.

Rose gave his side of the story.

"I was waiting to putt, the boys were obviously working on their read, obviously going through a lot of their sort of whatever, calculations and bits and pieces, so I sort of waited a few seconds," Rose said afterward, per ESPN's Mark Schlabach. "Then I felt like they came up again, and I was like, 'It's my putt, right?'"

He added: "Maybe I didn't say it as politely as I could have said it in the moment, but by no means was there any disrespect or anything like that. But obviously it was taken the wrong way."

Rose also spoke about the exchange after he and DeChambeau made their putts: "I said to the boys, 'If you want me to say, "Excuse me, please," then yeah, my bad.'"

It was a heated moment, but the situation seemed to cool itself down soon enough, with both sides presumably moving on.

"Listen, I hope so," Rose said. "I spoke to the boys. It should be [over], in my opinion. There was no intent behind it whatsoever. I admire [Scheffler] more than anybody else out on tour with the way he goes about his business, the way he goes about his life, and obviously just huge respect all around."

Team Europe has dominated this Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black, a public golf course located in Bethpage State Park on Long Island, New York. Europe needs 14 points to retain the Ryder Cup and already had 11.5 to the United States' 4.5.

The competition closes Sunday with 12 singles matches, worth one point apiece.
