British Open Results 2015: Updated Scores and Standings from Friday at St Andrew

Rain and wind could not slow down Dustin Johnson in the second round of the British Open—but darkness could.

Starting late due to a long rain delay at St. Andrews, Johnson saw Englishman Danny Willett take the lead before he even had a chance to hit his first shot of the day. Willett followed his opening round of 66 with a three-under 69 that allowed him to move to nine under par, but Johnson was not about to let a small deficit bother him.

Willett's performance thrilled him, and he was happy to have the clubhouse lead among those who had finished the second round.

"I think it's a childhood dream and looking up there it's still a little bit surreal but something I'm going to have to get used to, otherwise no point in being up there," he told Jay Busbee of Yahoo Sports. "We're going to try and rest up and then try and go out for another good weekend and hopefully we can be up there in two days' time."

Johnson came out firing and was able to get to 10 under par through the 13th hole before darkness stopped play while he was competing on the 14th hole of the Old Course.

Johnson's greatest asset is his ability to drive the ball long and straight. Even though he played much of his round in rain and heavy winds, he was able to hit the ball exceptionally well throughout the majority of his round.

Additionally, Johnson showed tremendous touch with his approaches. He played a near-perfect wedge on the 10th hole that he was able to leave within two feet and tap in for an easy birdie. However, one hole later, Johnson picked up his first bogey of the tournament when a howling wind pushed his four-foot par putt out of the cylinder.

Johnson will have to finish his second round on Saturday prior to playing the third round of the British Open.

Adam Scott found his form in the second round, firing a five-under 67. The former Masters champion has been close several times at the British Open, but he has never won the tournament. He played a bogey-free round and drained three of his birdies on the back nine to put him in a good position going into moving day.

It marked the first time in his 11 career British Open rounds at St. Andrews that he has broken 70.

Japan's Hideki Matsuyama had a remarkable second round. He was six under par after making a birdie on his final hole before darkness brought play to a halt. Matsuyama played himself into contention after a non-descript 72 in the opening round.

Even with Johnson's spectacular play, the golf world was still focused on Masters and U.S. Open champion Jordan Spieth. He was unable to convert most of his birdie opportunities and was just even par for the second round before darkness stopped him. He is five under par and trails Johnson by five strokes.

Louis Oosthuizen won the British Open the last time it was played at the Old Course in 2010. He had momentum in the final three rounds of the U.S. Open and has continued his hot streak. He finished two under for the day before darkness stopped his round and is seven under par for the tournament .

Jason Day and Paul Lawrie were both two strokes behind Johnson at eight under. While Day and Lawrie were still on the course when darkness halted play, surprisingly, Luke Donald shot a 70 and is six under for the tournament.

It was more of the same for Tiger Woods, who was not able to pick up his level of play in the second round. He finished his day at one over par in the second round when darkness ended it after 11 holes. Woods is five over for the tournament, and with the cut line projected at even par, he appears destined to miss the cut in his second consecutive major.

Phil Mickelson did not have any problems making the cut, but he have a disappointing back nine and ended up shooting 72 in the second round. Mickelson had two bogeys and a double bogey that prevented him from getting into a strong position on the leaderboard.
