Lewis Hamilton Says Dog Roscoe is in Coma After Catching Pneumonia, 'I'm By His Side'
Roscoe, the beloved English Bulldog of Lewis Hamilton, has been hospitalized due to a bout of pneumonia.
In a post on Instagram, Hamilton wrote "I'm by his side" after Roscoe went into a coma while receiving treatment after catching pneumonia:
"Please keep Roscoe in your thoughts. I want to keep you all updated. Roscoe caught pneumonia again and was struggling to breathe. He was admitted into hospital and sedated to calm him while they did checks on him and during the process his heart stopped. They managed to get a heartbeat back and now he's in a coma. We don't know whether he will wake from this. Tomorrow we'll try to wake him up. I'm by his side and want to thank you all for your prayers and support."
Per Latoya Gayle of PEOPLE, Hamilton posted a photo to his Instagram Stories earlier this week showing Roscoe arriving at the vet and wrote that it's "been a scary few hours" for the 12-year-old pup.
This is Roscoe's second bout with pneumonia this year. He previously contracted the illness in April.
Hamilton is not taking part in the Formula 1 tire test in Italy that was scheduled for Friday due to Roscoe's illness. The seven-time F1 champion adopted Roscoe in 2013.
