Crawford Says 'Only Thing' Canelo 'Probably Can Beat Me in Is Horseback Riding'
Ahead of Saturday's highly anticipated clash with Canelo Álvarez, Terence Crawford expressed extreme confidence in his ability to beat Canelo in not only boxing, but almost anything else as well.
Speaking at Thursday's pre-fight press conference, Crawford told reporters: "The only thing he probably can beat me in is horseback riding because I don't ride horses. But anything else you don't come close."
On Saturday, Crawford will put his perfect 41-0 record on the line against Álvarez at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas in a fight that will stream live on Netflix.
One bettor appears pretty confident Crawford will come out victorious, too, wagering $715,000 on him to beat Álvarez. The bettor would win a little over $1 million if Crawford pulls off the victory.
Crawford has held world titles across four different weight classes and been ranked as the top pound-for-pound fighter in the world on multiple occasions, but it can be argued that he hasn't received the same level of respect as a higher-profile boxer like Canelo.
Although Álvarez has two losses and two draws on his record to go with 63 victories, it can be argued that he has faced a higher level of competition than Crawford, taking on the likes of Floyd Mayweather Jr., Miguel Cotto and Gennady Golovkin.
Crawford has beaten the likes of Amir Khan, Kell Brook, Shawn Porter and the previously undefeated Errol Spence Jr., but his popularity and drawing power still undoubtedly lags behind that of Canelo.
The 37-year-old veteran from Omaha, Nebraska, vowed to change the narrative on Saturday, though, saying: "And for what everybody say, I haven't fought anybody. So come Saturday, we're going to all see."
Crawford added that the clash with Canelo has been "a long time coming," adding that he is "going to show the world what they've been missing out on."
