Dolphins' Tyreek Hill, De'Von Achane to Play vs. Colts, Waller Doubtful with Injury
The Miami Dolphins will have two key members of the offense on the field for Week 1, but they'll be without one of their tight ends against the Indianapolis Colts.
Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said wide receiver Tyreek Hill (oblique, calf) and running back De'Von Achane (calf) are "absolutely" on track to play against the Colts.
Tight end Darren Waller, who came out of retirement and was traded from the New York Giants to the Dolphins this offseason, is unlikely to play due to a hip strain, per NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe.

Hill's oblique injury flared up during a joint practice with the Chicago Bears last month, but McDaniel has remained optimistic about his status going into Week 1.
Hill is coming off one of the worst seasons of his career, recording 959 receiving yards and six touchdowns in 17 games. He's hoping to bounce back this season, and avoiding missing time to start the year is a good way to make sure he responds well.
McDaniel revealed Achane's injury last month, but the head coach wasn't concerned about him missing regular-season games. After Achane missed a handful of practices, McDaniel explained that his absence was "preventative in nature."
Achane, a third-round pick in 2023, has had a strong start to his career, rushing for 907 yards and six touchdowns last year while adding 592 receiving yards and six touchdowns through the air. He'll look to continue his solid production in Year 3.
Waller has spent the last two months getting into football shape after a year away from the sport, and McDaniel made it clear last month that the Dolphins wouldn't rush his return.
"This is where we thought a realistic assessment would be made, we're kind of making that daily," McDaniel said in August. "I'm expecting to see him sooner than later. In the back of my mind, it would be this week, but I'm not going to just put him out there this week just because I said it before.
"I'm hopeful, but it's very soon so we're just making sure all our ducks are in a row before we take that listing off of him."
Waller, a former Pro Bowler, last played for the Giants in 2023, where he recorded 552 yards and a touchdown in 12 games.
