Dolphins' Tyreek Hill 'On Track' to Play NFL Week 1 After Injury, Mike McDaniel Says
A key piece of the Miami Dolphins offense is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season.
Head coach Mike McDaniel announced on Wednesday that Tyreek Hill is "on track" to play in Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts.
Hill has been dealing with an oblique injury that flared up during the Dolphins' joint practices with the Chicago Bears earlier this month.
A five-time All-Pro receiver, Hill is looking to bounce back from a bit of a down year in 2024. He recorded 959 receiving yards and six touchdowns, making his first season without 1,000 or more yards since 2019.
There was also speculation about Hill's standing with the organization throughout the offseason. Tua Tagovailoa told reporters at the start of training camp that Hill was working to rebuild trust with his teammates.
As good as Hill has been throughout his career, one of his biggest strengths has been his durability. He missed just one game during his first three seasons with the Dolphins and has played 15 or more games in every season since 2020.
He'll look to recover from his recent injury swiftly and return to aiding Miami's offense.
Hill and the Dolphins are seemingly going strong in 2025, but the two sides dealt with some drama early in the offseason. In January, Hill told reporters that "it was great playing here," but he has to "do what's best" for his career.
Those comments made it seem like Hill was planning to request a trade, but he and Miami patched things up soon after.
Now, Hill and the Dolphins will be looking to make a playoff run with a new season on the horizon.
The Dolphins and Colts will play at Lucas Oil Stadium on Sept. 7 in the opener for both teams.
