De'Von Achane Out for Practice with Calf Injury, Dolphins HC Calls it 'Preventative'
The Miami Dolphins held De'Von Achane out of practice on Monday with a calf injury, and head coach Mike McDaniel told reporters that the star running back would likely not practice this week.
McDaniel did add that sitting Achane was largely "preventative in nature."
On Saturday, McDaniel told reporters that Achane's injury would keep him out between "days and weeks," and Monday's comments seem aligned with that original timeline. McDaniel also said over the weekend that he isn't currently concerned that Achane will miss the start of the regular season.

Inside NFL Prospect Getting Drafted 🙌
The explosive playmaker missed six games during his rookie season in 2023 but played in all 17 last year, rushing for 907 and six touchdowns and adding 78 catches for 592 yards and six scores. He was on pace for an even bigger season, but like the rest of Miami's offense found the going much tougher when Tua Tagovailoa was out injured.
There's no doubt that Achane is the main man in Miami's backfield going forward, however. The Dolphins made as much clear when they released Raheem Mostert in February as part of a series of moves to clear cap space. But even had Mostert remained, Achane has become arguably the most dynamic, and important, playmaker in Miami, especially as Tyreek Hill continues to age.
Any injury to him, in other words, is going to cause a certain amount of concern. For now, the Dolphins don't appear to be terribly concerned about Achane's calf situation, but the news is surely on the radar of both Miami's fanbase and fantasy football aficionados.
