In the women's draw, Coco Gauff stayed in top form, while Madison Keys lost, despite leading 5-0 in the third set.

Taylor Fritz's quest to reach the Round of 16 in New York for the fourth year in a row ended in stunning fashion.

The 2024 US Open finalist lost to Francisco Cerundolo in five sets, despite having a two-set lead.

Fritz started strong, aggressively attacking Cerundolo's second serve and taking advantage of the Argentinian's inconsistency.

However, Cerundolo rallied in the final three sets, unleashing his signature forehand.

Despite his impressive form entering the match, Fritz finished with 54 unforced errors and won only 67 percent of points on his first serve.

The Round of 16 at the US Open kicks off Sunday on ESPN, with all matches also being available on ESPN Unlimited.

Match of the Day: Carlos Alcaraz (2) vs. Tommy Paul (20)

On Sunday, Tommy Paul will look to reach the US Open quarterfinals for the first time in his career.

The 29-year-old has made the last eight at every other major, but not yet in New York.

This year's chance to achieve that milestone will be challenging, as Carlos Alcaraz stands on the opposite side of the net.

Alcaraz is aiming to become the first repeat US Open champion since Roger Federer.

The 23-year-old Spaniard came into the tournament after a four-month break to deal with a wrist injury.

You could see the rust in his earlier matches, especially in his third-round win over Yibing Wu.

Alcaraz racked up 33 unforced errors, struggling to find consistency on his dangerous forehand.

Although the seven-time major champion has a 6-2 record against Paul, his current form gives Paul a genuine opportunity to cause an upset.

That being said, Alcaraz should have just enough in store to advance.

Coco Gauff overcame another tough opponent, defeating Cristina Bucsa in straight sets to advance to the Round of 16.

The two-time major champion landed only 49 percent of her first serves and recorded six double faults.

However, she played a relentless return game, winning 51 percent of points on Bucsa's serve.

Madison Keys is headed home in heartbreaking fashion.

Keys led 5-0 in the third set against Qinwen Zheng before completely unraveling, losing seven straight games.

The former Australian Open champion struggled to stay composed, committing 14 unforced errors after taking a 5-1 lead.

Aryna Sabalenka is inching closer and closer to becoming the third woman in the Open Era to three-peat at the US Open.

The world No. 1 has been dominant this past week, dropping just 15 games total in her first three matches.

She's about to face her toughest challenge yet, however.

Taylor Townsend enters on the heels of a thrilling three-set win over No. 15 seed Diana Shnaider.

The 30-year-old American is seeking to reach her first career major quarterfinal in her 35th career Grand Slam appearance.

Like Sabalenka, Townsend utilizes an aggressive game plan and can do significant damage with her serve.

Towsend can keep this match close and perhaps even win a set.

However, it'll take a near-perfect effort and perhaps a significant dip in Sabalenka's form to pull off an upset of this magnitude.
