Dolphins' De'Von Achane Has Soft Tissue Injury, McDaniel Expects RB to Play Week 1
Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel revealed that running back De'Von Achane is nursing a lower-body soft tissue injury, according to NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe.
McDaniel indicated that he's not concerned about Achane possibly missing Week 1 of the regular season, Wolfe reported.
Achane rushed for 22 yards on three carries during Miami's preseason opener, but didn't see any action in the team's 24-17 win over the Detroit Lions on Saturday.

He'll be reassessed in Miami "this week," according to ESPN's Marcel Louis-Jacques.
The Dolphins could be taking a cautious approach with Achane to ensure that he doesn't miss any time in the regular season. He played in all 17 games during his 2024 campaign, but made just 11 appearances as a rookie in 2023 due to a knee injury.
When healthy, Achane has used his blazing speed to establish himself as a key piece of the Dolphins' offense after he was selected with a third-round pick in the 2023 NFL draft.
After recording 997 all-purpose yards and 11 touchdowns during his rookie year, he showed signs of progress in his sophomore season.
Achane rushed for 907 yards and six scores while showcasing his improvement as part of Miami's passing attack despite starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa missing six games with a concussion.
He hauled in 78 receptions on 87 targets and led all running backs with 592 receiving yards, finding the end zone six times through the air.
Until Achane is able to return, Miami will rely on Jaylen Wright and Ollie Gordon to take on larger roles in its first-string offense.
The Dolphins will open the regular season against the Indianapolis Colts on Sept. 7 at 1 p.m. ET.
