Fantasy Booking AJ Lee's WWE Comeback amid Latest Return Rumors
AJ Lee has not appeared on WWE television for over a decade.
One of the most decorated and influential competitors in women's division history, she stepped away from the company in support of husband CM Punk amid his disputes with WWE.
Lee then went on to find success as an author, producer, advocate and entrepreneur.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported: "WWE is planning an AJ Lee return to the ring at WrestlePalooza, and a return on-screen imminently."
He added: "We were told this isn't necessarily a one-off, and that WWE hopes that they can do more with her, but even if that's it, they're happy to have her involved again."
What might the booking of Lee's return look like? Let's take a look.
The Return
1 of 4
Becky Lynch revealed herself to be the latest member of The Vision at Clash in Paris when she entered the Fatal 4-Way match for the World Heavyweight Championship.
She delivered a low blow to CM Punk and ensured her husband, Seth Rollins, left with his title reign intact.
The following Monday on Raw, Lynch repeatedly slapped Punk, something The Straight Edge Superstar promised The Man would regret.
Punk was then intrigued when Raw general manager Adam Pearce told him Friday's SmackDown would take place in his hometown of Chicago.
A return in the Windy City makes the most sense, especially with the quick turnaround between Clash in Paris and Wrestlepalooza, which takes place on September 20 in Indianapolis.
The most effective way to reintroduce Lee is to have Punk on the receiving end of an attack by Rollins and Lynch.
Lee's music would then play and she would rush the ring, fight off Lynch while her husband clears out the world champion.
Cue the renewed excitement in WWE and a massive new match to help build its ESPN debut around.
One-on-One Match vs. Lynch
2 of 4
While all signs seem to point to Lee teaming with Punk to battle Rollins and Lynch in Indy, there are few bigger matches WWE can produce than a one-on-one showdown between two of the most influential female stars.
Lee helped spark the women's revolution, and Lynch advanced it. Both emerged as genuine stars, as they were allowed to be themselves and connect with the fans.
They took similar paths to success and transcended the industry Theirs is a matchup fans have longed for.
If Lee does return to the squared circle, the matchup with Lynch is a must. Put them in the same ring, let them work their magic and celebrate all they have achieved.
A setting like Survivor Series, or a major television special such as Saturday Night's Main Event, would be appropriate for a match of that enormity.
Squaring off with the Prodigy

The influence Lee had on an entire generation of fans is apparent, but former WWE star Cora Jade and Raw's Roxanne Perez have also expressed how important the former Divas champion was in their decision to become professional wrestlers.
Punk even took both under their wing, referring to them as his daughters, a shtick that Lee continued when she responded to a recent video of Perez delivering her Pop Rox finisher to The Best in the World during WWE's recent tour of Europe.
If Lee returns to the squared circle for more than one match, a showdown with Perez is a must.
The Prodigy is in the early days of what has the potential to be a Hall of Fame career. Booking her against Lee instantly elevates her star.
The protege-turned-star is a storyline that always works in professional wrestling, and there is no reason to believe it would not here.
This is a match that does not have to be reserved for a PLE. A spot on a Saturday Night's Main Event or even the main event of Raw would suit.
It would be an announcement from the WWE hierarchy that Perez is the here and now of women's wrestling.
And Everything Inbetween

What is not known is how long Lee will stick around in WWE.
Fans have waited 10 years to see one of the most popular competitors of her generation return to the company for a run befitting her influence and star.
So, WWE needs to be selective with the matches and not waste a single week of having her around on worthless angles.
Lee does not need WWE. She has proved successful beyond the pro wrestling bubble. The company must make sure her return has substance.
Lee is a star in professional wrestling and has a passionate fanbase that has waited a long time to see her back. WWE needs to take it seriously and benefit from the magic it creates.
