Becky Lynch Helps Seth Rollins and Best, Worst Booking Decisions of WWE Clash in Paris
The Paris La Défense Arena in France hosted a wild night of action, featuring the first-ever Clash in Paris, including an exciting world title main event.
Bronson Reed overwhelmed Roman Reigns with her power and size but could not put away The OTC, who finished the fight with an avalanche Samoan drop and Spear.
Bron Breakker and Reed laid out Reigns afterward with two Spears and three Tsunamis to send The OTC out on a stretcher and took down Jey with a Spear as well. Adam Pearce ejected both men from the arena afterward.
This left Seth Rollins alone, fighting three other men for the gold. The Visionary still walked out as the World heavyweight champion with the help of Becky Lynch.
John Cena overcame the odds and the best shots of Logan Paul to pick up the win, adding another victory to his illustrious career during his retirement tour.
Erick Rowan, Nikki Cross and Uncle Howdy helped Dexter Lumis and Joe Gacy retain the WWE Tag Team Championship against the game challengers, The Street Profits.
Lynch survived the best efforts of Nikki Bella, rolling through her grip into a backslide pin for the victory, retaining her Women's Intercontinental Championship once again.
Rusev concluded his feud with Sheamus by forcing The Celtic Warrior to tap out to The Accolade, with a shillelagh in his mouth.
The following are the best and worst booking decisions that emerged from Clash in Paris.
Worst: Roman Reigns Gets Revenge on Paul Heyman Too Easily
1 of 8After a predictable result in a solid match with Bronson Reed, Roman Reigns got his shoes back from The Tribal Thief.
He also got his hands on Paul Heyman, choking him out with a guillotine choke.
This preceded an extended beat-down segment that made the first match and its aftermath last over 45 minutes.
This was too much to throw into this one match and takes away from the excitement of Reigns getting his hands on Heyman in the future when he is fully feuding with Seth Rollins directly.
Even if Breakker and Reed used the Heyman injury as an excuse for their follow-up attack, the extra motivation was not needed.
WWE put too much into this segment when Reigns' stories have typically delivered big moments like this as a successful slow burn in the past.
Best: Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker Destroy Roman Reigns
2 of 8While the reasoning for this beat-down was unconvincing, Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker looked great in the post-match attack.
By the end, it was clear why these two are so dangerous despite The OTC largely out-wrestling The Tribal Thief down the stretch in the ring.
Especially with Jey Uso's involvement (if more delayed than necessary), this sold the excitement of a rematch tag team clash from SummerSlam.
Based on the timing of this segment and the likelihood of Reigns taking months off, WWE could delay Breakker and Reed vs. Reigns and Jey for WrestleMania 42, perhaps with the World Tag Team Championships also on the line.
The opener also set up Seth Rollins without help for the main event, leaving an interesting question of how The Visionary would respond.
Best: Street Profits Don't Turn on Each Other
3 of 8The Wyatt Sicks tested the bond of Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins in the build-up to their WWE Tag Team Championships clash.
Some signs suggested that Uncle Howdy might be able to persuade The Street Profits to turn on each other.
Luckily, that did not happen as there is no reason to turn these long-standing friends into rivals.
WWE should consider testing Ford and Dawkins in the singles division, but there is no reason for them to feud first when they work better together as a team.
The right team won, helped by the numbers game, which will likely be a frequent move for The Wyatt Sicks.
Hopefully, this means WWE has plenty more interesting match-ups lined up for the WWE tag team champions going forward, including on more PLEs.
Best: Becky Lynch Retain Women's Intercontinental Championship
4 of 8When it comes to Nikki Bella in 2025, it is hard to say how far WWE is willing to push her.
It would have been a mistake to make her Women's Intercontinental champion, but WWE could have done it for the sake of Nikki's legacy.
The best booking, though, played out, especially since it was obvious throughout this match that "Fearless" could not keep up with The Man.
Nikki missing multiple spots and looked like she was straining to keep the pace throughout.
The best approach moving forward is to pair Nikki with a young talent, especially if Brie Bella is not returning, and focus on the women's tag team division.
Lynch has plenty of exciting younger talent to compete with, hopefully finding a rising star to pass the title off to down the line.
Worst: Rusev Makes Sheamus Submit
5 of 8Michael Cole advised after Sheamus tapped out that this was just the second time The Celtic Warrior has ever tapped out in a wrestling ring.
WWE put everything into this moment to elevate Rusev, and the booking played out to make him look like a monster.
However, all signs at this time point to fans simply not caring enough about The Bulgarian Brute to give him this big a push.
While the fans enjoyed the wild action in this match and backed Sheamus, Rusev was met with half-hearted boos throughout.
The Celtic Warrior is one of WWE's more popular underused stars and deserves at least one last big push to the Intercontinental Championship.
This loss may take that chance away from Sheamus or at least delay further, which could set up for just one more major injury to dash those dreams.
WWE needs to find a stronger story and feud for Rusev to make him worthy of this spot. Perhaps pairing him with an ascending face like Jey Uso or LA Knight could help.
The bigger goal, though, is to make him feel like more than a generic heel. It no longer works to simply be a big, mean man and thrive near the top of the card.
Worst: Not Putting John Cena in the Main Event
6 of 8While the John Cena vs. Logan Paul match went on for too long and was more like a showcase of moves than a dramatic battle with stakes, it was clearly the fans' most anticipated bout.
The crowd was electric for every second of this contest, rooting on Cena to overcome the dastardly heel.
The top angle in WWE, even after some rough chapters, is still The GOAT's retirement tour.
Even with bigger stakes for the actual main event, nothing was going to beat the emotional high of Cena picking up his last victory in France.
The Paris crowd remained enthusiastic afterward, but it was clearly a more subdued reaction to what had come before.
Best: Seth Rollins Retain the World Heavyweight Championship
7 of 8While a Fatal 4-Way presents an easy option to move a championship while protecting the champion, this was far too early for Seth Rollins to lose.
The Visionary as the big bad of Raw is the best path forward for the brand. Everyone in this match had an argument to become the next world champion.
None of them, though, would benefit from beating Rollins in this format. Rollins' title reign should end in singles action as a top star outwrestles the champ.
LA Knight especially looked great throughout this contest, selling how much he wanted to finally become world champion.
It would be smart to keep the momentum rolling and give The Million Dollar Megastar the next shot at Rollins, solo this time.
Best: Becky Lynch Joins Seth Rollins' Vision
8 of 8While Seth Rollins said he could win alone, he had a shocking back-up plan, helped by his wife, Becky Lynch.
It was a smart move for all involved and ensures that the two top heels in WWE today will be working together going forward.
This was a booking choice many fans hope to see once Rollins and Lynch had taken their spots near the top of the WWE card.
Fans are aware that they are married and have collaborated in the past. They have never been together as heels, though, giving them a fresh position for what comes next.
Rollins is a good promo, but Lynch is one of the best in the business right now. They can aid each other in staying top stars for the rest of the year and beyond.
This also makes sure that Raw's hottest angle includes the women's division. Paul Heyman could even play a role in aiding Lynch in her dominant run as Women's Intercontinental champion.
This group has likely now fully formed, and once WWE embraces its unofficial moniker (The Vision), this is a stable that can truly define WWE for a long time to come.
