Lakers' LeBron James Reacts to Lee Corso Retirement Video, 'We Will All Miss You'
Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James paid tribute to Lee Corso on Saturday ahead of the legendary college football personality's upcoming final appearance on ESPN College GameDay.
On his Instagram Stories, James reposted a video of ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit emotionally celebrating Corso, and LeBron added the caption, "We will all miss you man."
Corso, 90, spent 15 seasons as the head football coach at Louisville, Indiana and Northern Illinois from 1969 to 1984, compiling a 73-85-6 record, including a win in the 1979 Holiday Bowl.
After retiring from coaching, Corso joined ESPN in 1987, and he became arguably the most iconic analyst in the history of college football.
Since joining ESPN, Corso has been the face of College GameDay, thanks largely to his weekly headgear picks where he dons the mascot head of the team he picks to win the day's biggest game.
After 38 years on the show, Corso will say goodbye next weekend when College GameDay emanates from Columbus, Ohio, on Aug. 30 ahead of the clash between Ohio State and Michigan.
That will mark Corso's final episode of College GameDay, and it will be a big one, as Texas and OSU are ranked No. 1 and No. 3 in the Associated Press Top 25, respectively.
James, who is from Akron, Ohio, will undoubtedly be watching intently, as he is a longtime fan of Ohio State football.
While College GameDay will continue after that, likely for many years to come, it will never be the same without Corso's infectious personality, showmanship and love for college football.
