Brian Robinson Jr.'s Top Landing Spots as Commanders Reportedly Look to Trade RB
A promising young running back could be available on the trade market, as the Washington Commanders are reportedly exploring potential deals for Brian Robinson Jr.
NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported on Sunday that the Commanders "have been shopping" Robinson to teams around the NFL as he enters the final year of his rookie contract.
Let's take a look at some of the top landing spots for Robinson as the start of the 2025 season approaches.
Dallas Cowboys

It would be a massive surprise to see the Commanders trade Robinson to an NFC East rival, but there is no team more in need of a running back of the future than the Dallas Cowboys.
While they added speedsters Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders this offseason, the Cowboys still face questions about their rushing offense. Adding Robinson would quell those concerns while creating more depth in the backfield.
Dallas has been searching for an heir to the mantle once owned by Ezekiel Elliott for quite some time, so the team should be motivated to pursue Robinson. A strong run game would go a long way toward balancing an offense predicated on the passing attack led by star quarterback Dak Prescott and receivers CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens.
The Commanders likely would have a high price tag for the Cowboys if they come calling, but Robinson has shown enough promise to prove that he's worth the cost.
Houston Texans

The Houston Texans received some disappointing news last week, as KPRC2’s Aaron Wilson reported that star running back Joe Mixon "is not considered a lock to be ready" for the team's Week 1 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams as he continues his recovery from an ankle/foot injury.
If Mixon remains out indefinitely, the Texans would be wise to explore a deal for Robinson.
Houston has won back-to-back AFC South titles and is hoping to take the next step toward Super Bowl contention. While the team has done a solid job to build talent around star quarterback C.J. Stroud as he enters his third year in the NFL, Mixon's potential absence will raise concerns about the Texans' chances of making it through the competitive AFC.
Acquiring Robinson would shore up Houston's rushing attack and provide the team with a reliable lead back until Mixon is able to return.
Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jacksonville Jaguars appear to be falling out of love with lead back Travis Etienne Jr., potentially creating a need for a new ball-carrier.
John Shipley of SI.com reported last month that 2023 third-round pick Tank Bigsby "looked like the focal point at running back" over Etienne during training camp. After starting his career with back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons, Etienne disappointingly totaled just 558 rushing yards in 15 games in 2024, and Jacksonville appears poised to move on.
Adding Robinson would give the Jags some new energy in the backfield behind star quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Jacksonville could utilize him as the lead back or use a two-pronged attack with him and Bigsby.
The Jags are hoping to return to playoff contention, so a strong rushing attack could be the last piece of the puzzle needed to achieve their goal.
